Applied Scientist - Amazon Privacy, Amazon Privacy

Job ID: 2934367 | Amazon.com Services LLC

DESCRIPTION

We're on a mission to simplify Privacy for Amazon's builder community. Our systems are used by tens of thousands of Amazon builders and business teams to identify and address their privacy obligations.

This role will identify opportunities, research problems, and guide the creation of products that help automate that privacy work done by teams across the company. To do so, you will work very closely with our engineering and product teams, as well as other applied scientists and privacy specialists.

Our teams, based in the US and Europe, own the systems that map where personal data exists across the company, how it is used, and any associated obligations. We also own the products that builders use to address obligations. We apply data classification, natural language processing and other techniques to solve these problems at scale (hundreds-of-thousands of systems, millions of connections, exabytes of data).

Key job responsibilities
- Gain an understanding of current business challenges and identify opportunities to use science-based approaches.
- Partner with engineers and product managers
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to create experiments and prototypes that lead to further investment and development
- Collaborate on designs and support engineers as your ideas move from prototype to production
- Measure and monitor your models to ensure ongoing performance
- Document and share your findings with engineers, product managers, other scientists and our wider organization.
