Software Development Engineer III, LMDT- DTO
DESCRIPTION
Amazon has come a long way since opening on the World Wide Web in July 1995. Today, we operate retail websites in multiple countries across geographies, offering products in many categories (books, media, digital, electronics etc.) worldwide, and we still like to work hard, have fun and make history! The Amazon.com brand has become synonymous with a superior level of convenience, selection, low prices, and customer service.
The UTR Automation team, within the LMT organization, envisions to create a delivery station that can run in “lights out” or “dark” mode by relying on automation to be able to process packages end to end with no human intervention. Our penultimate vision is to reduce ergonomic injuries and safety incidents and improve labor efficiency by enabling a station that can be run 24/7 by creating a variety of robotics and automation solutions in a modular way to allow a building to retro-fit its processes either partially automated or fully automated, depending on building type, geography and demography. Automation through machine intelligence reduces the level of "human touch", yet increases visibility into delivery actions that allow dynamic planning and adaptation. In a world where anyone can deliver packages for Amazon and delivery points can be in a variety of areas, technology that is utilized needs to be tightly-embedded into the working environment and processes. This yields a scenario in which it is invisible, intuitive to interact with, and ensures processes are as fail-proof as possible. The Last Mile Automation team builds solutions that utilize globally-standard IoT devices, Material-Handling-Equipment (MHEs) and robotics to seamlessly weave software and hardware solutions into the logistics and on-road delivery environments. The team continuously innovates for our customers and invests in furthering our architectural foundation to enable business growth, and strategic business initiatives for the next-generation "Last Mile" hubs WW.
We have embarked on a journey to develop our next generation product suite and our roadmap has challenging items for eliminating the human touch on a large scale across WW operations. We are looking for enthusiastic engineers who are looking to make an impact and create products for AMZL's next big dreams. The future begins here!!
