Transportation Financial Systems (TFS) is one of the largest technological components within the transportation organization enabling the corporation to conduct global trade. These systems are a cornerstone to the success of all global program launches including retail expansions into new geographies and the establishment of new transportation arcs. TFS provides an end-to-end financial solution for all financial transactions including tax integration, financial document creation & management, expense auditing, accounting, payments, and cost allocation functions. We leverage the latest machine learning technologies to develop highly scalable next generation products driving real time financial accounting, reporting, and business insights.

This role supports the development of a best-in-class financial system that enables sustainable growth of the Amazon Transportation Network. We seek an analytical, technically skilled, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Business Intelligence Engineer to join our fast-paced team. You will help improve shipping cost predictions to reduce overall cost to delight our customers. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with large volumes of data, embraces complex business challenges, and is passionate about data and analytics. This role is pivotal in supporting our product, business, and tech teams in meeting their ambitious goals by providing targeted, actionable insights.

Key job responsibilities

· Manage strategic projects involving partner teams such as BI teams and Customer teams

· Design, optimize, and compile queries for report generation in QuickSight and Excel

· Deliver key metrics, reports, and performance indicators, and solve ambiguous analyses and identify root causes

· Design and implement analytical models using statistical analysis

· Translate complex or ambiguous business problems into analysis requirements

· Understand the data required by the wider business for complex or comparative analysis

· Design, develop and deliver scalable tools for seamless data exploration and analytics for our internal stakeholders and understand customer interactions, improve the customer experience, and meet our goals

· Effectively communicate complex analytical insights and business implication

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of professional or military experience
- 5+ years of SQL experience
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience with AWS technologies
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
