DESCRIPTION

We are looking to hire a Lab support engineer in Ring India within the Software/Firmware development organization, responsible for the of Ring Lab that has core products including doorbell camera, security camera, and other new products.

Role:
The Ring Software/Firmware QA team is looking for a Lab support engineer to help and own the lab’s current capabilities and it’s expansion. The successful candidate will be obsessed with quality improvement, help to generate and collect data to increase operational efficiency.
Responsibilities include maintaining all aspects of the Ring device labs, supports spaces and equipment resources, including hardware and software, update all lab infrastructure, equipment, and software configurations. Ensure availability of test equipment and parts. Understanding customer use cases, strong device/system troubleshooting skills down to component and software levels.
You will work directly with development teams, QA engineers, test automation engineers, QS teams, different stakeholders and peer QA teams to iteratively improve our software development process.

Key job responsibilities
* Responsibilities include maintaining all aspects of the Ring device labs, supports spaces and equipment resources, including hardware and software, update all lab infrastructure, equipment, and software configurations.
* Ensure availability of test equipment and parts. Understanding customer use cases, strong device/system troubleshooting skills down to component and software levels.
* Organize and maintain stock of critical test equipment, third party devices, prototype devices for troubleshooting and debug.
* Monitoring our lab ticket queue, triage, troubleshoot and resolve incoming tickets within established timelines.
* Provide detailed data and communications in trouble tickets and are relentless in the documentation and communication of system processes.
* Generate service metrics using scripts and/or documentation.
* Working with all stages of prototype devices, debug connectivity, and moving devices between development stages within the lab.
* Imaging/Re-Imaging computers (Amazon Images, Non-Amazon Images)
* Troubleshooting hardware and software. Linux, Android, iOS and FireOS
* Composing technical documents for operational excellence and operational troubleshooting.
* Flashing prototype devices to software builds required by our customers.

About the team

The Ring HW/SW QA team is looking for a Lab Support Engineer to help and own the lab’s current capabilities and it’s expansion.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 1+ years of software development, or 1+ years of technical support experience
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
- Experience scripting in modern program languages
- 1+ years experience organizing and maintaining stock of critical test equipment, third party devices, prototype devices for troubleshooting and debug.
- 1+ years experience in project management skills including resource planning, managing schedules, reporting project status and prioritizing own tasks and those of other team members for multiple projects.
- 1+ years experience with SQA methodology and tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with embedded systems, consumer devices, or mobile apps
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of working effectively with development engineering and other functions
- Superior analytical skills, including strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems
- A basic understanding of network troubleshooting
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
