As a Senior Category Manager, you will create and own the strategic relationship with third-party logistic providers (3PLs) and senior internal stakeholders while building collaboration within and across organizational boundaries. You will drive key sourcing activities, ensuring equipment and service availability to meet business goals while minimizing risk. You will be the trusted advisor in strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives. In this role will manage internal and external relationships while building new categories and processes.

We are seeking a leader with procurement experience to strategically source products and services as part of our External Fulfillment Procurement Organization. The position will work and partner with multiple teams to develop and execute category sourcing strategies and processes, deliver savings and improve productivity across the category.


Key job responsibilities
· Identify, develop and deliver long term sourcing strategies, lead sourcing initiatives with cross-functional teams; drive the decision making process of the category roadmap with senior leadership.
· Drive commercial relationships with suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving optimal cost and performance;
· Lead supplier performance management; including improving sustainability & social responsibility;
· Coordinate and collaborate with operational teams to deploy and manage the implementation of your defined strategies.


LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

· Establish category sourcing strategies, lead cross-functional strategic sourcing teams, negotiate with suppliers and execute contracts to optimize Amazon’s competitive position
· Build a supply base that is diverse and representative of the communities Amazon serves
· Drive appropriate relationships with category suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving the optimal solution and cost of ownership that meets the business’ goals supported by a culture of continuous improvement with performance benchmarks in use
· Manage category suppliers to proactively identify, monitor and optimize opportunities
· Develop and implement Supplier Relationship Management activities to mitigate risk, improve performance and add value to Amazon
· Align with internal customers and understand the business application of the category

~25% travel including occasional international travel


A day in the life
· Earn the trust of key stakeholders to drive alignment with the business
· Drive and execute complex sourcing activities in cooperation with cross-functional team
· Gather business needs end elaborate the most optimal sourcing strategy to secure on timely manner the capacity, minimizing Total Cost of Ownership and risk
· Develop a resilient, fast-paced and flexible supplier base
· Leverage existing procurement resources to benefit our internal customers
· Understand problems, pull people together, identify solutions and deliver results
· Own commercial relationship with third-party logistic providers

About the team
Our team strives to be a single point of contact for procurement support to our stakeholders. We are finding ways to move faster and more efficiently than ever before to deliver upgrades to capacity across Amazon's Customer Fulfillment network.

This group is part of the External Fulfillment Organization and key stakeholders are various teams within Network Planning, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Legal and others.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of procurement experience
- Bachelor's degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
