Job Summary
Amazon Devices Manufacturing and Logistics Finance is seeking a Finance Manager to lead a comprehensive transformation of our inventory financial management and optimization processes in partnership with Devices Operations and Devices Accounting. The ideal candidate will drive comprehensive improvements in inventory tracking, inventory placement, financial reporting and operational efficiency across our logistics warehousing network (KFlex, fulfillment centers, Reverse Logistics) and manufacturing network.
The Finance Manager will orchestrate a holistic approach to inventory financial governance and stewardship, combining deep technical expertise with strategic vision translated into specific yearly goals and performance KPIs. The successful candidate will not merely manage processes but fundamentally redesign our approach to inventory financial management across global contract manufacturers, fulfillment centers, and complex logistics networks.
This role requires seamless engagement with Devices Global Logistics, Devices Reverse Logistics, Consumer Fulfillment Center Finance, Devices Accounting and Devices Product Lines CFOs. This role will work with Devices Global Logistics to ensure optimal inventory placement decisions are made to minimize storage costs. This role, in partnership with Devices Accounting and Devices FP&A, will manage monthly inventory review meetings that will be essential to driving organizational alignment and implementing best practices. This role will develop inventory financial reporting that will go beyond traditional reporting frameworks, including predictive models that forecast potential inventory financial risks, conduct periodic high-value inventory shipment audits, and implement semi-annual purchase quantity variance health check protocols that provide actionable insights. This role will work with the Fintech team to design and implement robust financial tracking that prevent inventory write-downs, build tracking mechanisms that provide real-time visibility into inventory movements and identify potential financial risks before they materialize.
The successful candidate for this role needs to demonstrate a proven track record of influencing senior Finance leaders and implementing transformative financial control frameworks with the ability to translate complex financial challenges into executable solutions. This role can be located in Amazon offices in Sunnyvale, CA or Seattle, WA or Arlington, VA

Key job responsibilities:
• Financial Stewardship. Influence and partner with Devices PL CFOs (L8s) and Devices Ops senior leaders to create inventory financial optimization goals and drive the necessary execution across Devices Global Logistics and Devices Reverse Logistics. Formulate a proposal for key Inventory KPIs, and related targets, to be adopted as standard across all PLs and reviewed in a dedicated monthly forum. Partner with Consumer FC Finance leaders to drive Devices inventory storage cost out initiatives for online sales channels.
• Financial Reporting. Develop and own the quarterly inventory financial guidance process. Collaborate with product line teams and demand/supply planning to establish accurate inventory projections and financial targets. Maintain and expand on a centralized inventory dashboard to provide actionable insights into inventory levels, turns, and financial impact through key performance indicators (KPIs). Conduct in-depth financial analysis to assess inventory performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Financial Optimization. Partner with PL teams, Devices Accounting, Demand Science Optimization finance, and Supply/Demand planning teams to optimize inventory levels, inventory placement decisions and minimize inventory storage/carrying costs. Drive strategic initiatives to improve inventory efficiency and profitability.
• Financial Risk Management. Partner with Devices Accounting and Devices FP&A’s Inventory principals to address all control and risk management deficiencies that could have negative impact on D&S’s financial results, and present a controllership risk in the financial position of the company.
• Controllership. Oversee the monthly inventory-related P&L close process, including tracking and analyzing inventory adjustments and transfers. Identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring accurate financial reporting and operational processes. Develop comprehensive tracking mechanisms to prevent inventory write-downs, write-offs, and unreconciled transfers.
• Process Improvement and Innovation. Identify opportunities to streamline inventory management processes and reduce operational costs. Implement best practices and leverage technology to enhance efficiency. Partner with the Fintech team and develop comprehensive reporting frameworks for inventory transactions across global contract manufacturers, fulfillment centers, and logistics networks. Develop predictive models to forecast potential inventory financial risks and conduct periodic audits of high-value inventory shipments

Key Required Qualities:
• Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Knowledge of inventory management & operations industry a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven experience in financial planning & analysis, with advanced proficiency in financial modeling
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze large datasets and draw meaningful insights
• Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
• A strong work ethic, with a commitment to continuous improvement and a dedication to achieving results.
• Experience leading and/or mentoring a team of financial analysts a plus.

Key job responsibilities
- Partner directly with our Device Finance team and Kflex organization to drive visibility and sound decision making in the areas of device logistic planning and forecasting.
- Partner with Kflex's organization and Device Finance team to ensure Business Strategy is translated and reflected in Operational and Financial results
- Maintain and develop financial models for the Kflex and FC cost estimates to support product launch decisions, scenario analysis, and other ad hoc requests
- Attend core team meetings and serve as primary Finance point of contact for all Kflex and FC costs forecasts
- Explore opportunities to automate existing and developed tools

A day in the life
This role requires an intellectually curious individual who can frame situations through multiple lenses. They are a self-starter with a keen attention to detail and an ability to set clear priorities in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have shown success in influencing business owners and supporting decision making in rapidly evolving environments. This role also has regular interaction with executives and various business units across Amazon including international entities and therefore requires strong interpersonal and communication skills.

About the team
We are the Devices Global Logistics Finance Team. Historically, our P&L responsibility have been the horizontal support of Logistics costs for all of Devices. As the business team, Devices Global Logistics (DGL), grew and expanded their business function to a broader scope, our finance support role grew as well. We are fully involved in Inbound Freight planning, and work with our Network Finance counterparts to better understand forecast assumptions and variance drivers around FC Variable, FC Fixed, and Outbound Shipping Costs. Our team has spent this past year scrubbing our data and we are focused on sourcing it from data sources rather than exporting and manipulating in Excel. Our goal is to automate our systems and processes so that we can be better business partners and support the growth of Devices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 5+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- MBA

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market.
