IT Support Engineer, Ring IT
DESCRIPTION
Ring is looking for an IT Support Engineer to join our Information Technology team. This person will act as the senior member of the Ring IT services team in Europe with the primary focus of supporting & improving the technology experience as a part of a global team.
- Managing network infrastructure at local and remote offices.
- Provide local IT support for laptops, desktops and software
- Assisting in device troubleshooting for a heavily remote-based workforce.
- Being a role model for other IT team members.
- Improve existing systems and provide a template for other junior team members to strive toward.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing network infrastructure for small-medium businesses and as a desktop support in a complex IT environment, as well as a history balancing day-to-day ticket queue management. They will have experience acting as an owner of small to medium implementation IT projects. They are a key member of the IT project planning process.
Key job responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day IT site support in Tampere, Finland including laptops, software, access and wired/wireless networks.
- Manage existing Ring lab networks in Europe with sites in Finland, Poland and Romania; occasionally requiring travel to those locations.
- Collect requirements for new lab networks and coordinate procurement, installation and administration for lab networks globally.
- Maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
- Manage and deploy the network security appliances align with the corporate security policy.
- Occasionally interface with outside vendors, third party support teams, and various external resources.
A day in the life
In this role you will be the primary IT support person for a Ring company site in Tampere, Finland. Like most IT Support roles, you will be using a ticketing system as well as a project tracking system to provide updates on your progress, as well as meeting with your remote manager and peers regularly. Being the Ring IT support person in Europe, you may also find yourself supporting other sites or users remotely as it is more convenient for them and your peers. This role will have a specialization in network support, specifically Cisco Meraki devices, due to local needs and a general lack of knowledge on the current team.

In this technical role you joining a team of 9 people in similar roles supporting Ring IT worldwide, who all reside in other locations. Ring headquarters is in Hawthorne, CA and we also have offices in Malvern, PA, Boston, MA, and Taipei, TW.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- A proven track record providing advanced desktop support in an enterprise IT environment.
- Experience with Cisco-based networking technologies especially Meraki products.
- Experience on supporting both MacOS and Windows computer environments
- Experience with ticketing platforms such as FreshService and/or Jira Service Desk.
- Experience handling local network cabling projects for small to medium office networks.
- Proficiency in managing complex network devices and well understanding of TCP/IP protocols
- Excellent English and Finnish (local language) skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical Degree or Network Administrator certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+
- A proven track record providing advanced desktop support in an enterprise IT environment.
- Experience on supporting desktops in directory service environments such as Okta, Active Directory, and/or cloud-based directories.
- Experience with both MacOS and Windows environments
- Experience supporting small-to-medium business networks using Cisco Meraki or similar
