Key job responsibilities
As a Principal Applied Scientist in the team, you will:

- Deeply analyze our current offerings to uncover opportunities for business growth through advanced ML solutions.
- Provide mentorship to applied scientists and data scientists within the organization, setting a high bar for technical rigor and ML excellence.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams, leveraging your expertise to navigate technical constraints and achieve optimal performance.
- Explore and pioneer innovative, high-impact research avenues in uncharted technical and scientific areas, leading them from inception to successful implementation.
- Take the lead in sharing our ML breakthroughs with the wider scientific community and external stakeholders.
- Research, build, and deploy innovative ML solutions; working across all technical disciplines.

Amazon Publisher Services helps digital publishers around the world build and grow thriving businesses. We provide services and advanced technologies to web, mobile app and advanced TV publishers of all sizes, including many of comScore’s global top 100, to help them monetize their content with demand from multiple programmatic buyers. Our server-side header bidding solutions are fast and reliable across devices, handling billions of queries per day, delivering ads in milliseconds. The result is more profitable advertising for publishers and more relevant ads for customers.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
- Over 10 years of hands-on experience in developing ML solutions for customer-facing products.
- At least 2 years of direct experience leading multiple ML projects, with a focus on designing products that effectively meet customer needs.
- Demonstrated history of delivering large-scale, high-quality ML projects.
- Demonstrated track record of applying ML techniques to deliver measurable business impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Proven track record in deploying large-scale deep learning models for online recommendation, personalization, or search.
- Solid experience collaborating with engineering teams to adapt deep learning solutions to meet strict latency targets.
- Demonstrated ability to shape product strategy with innovative research in deep learning.
- A history of contributing to internal or external publications that inspire new research directions.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $179,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $309,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
