General Manager Assistant, Worldwide Operations
DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a motivated and impeccably organized General Manager's Assistant to join our team at our new Storage and Distribution Center (SDC) in Toluca, Mexico, to assist and work closely with the site's General Manager.
About Amazon's SDC: The Operations teams that work in this facility are responsible for managing our vast range of inventory, focusing on receiving, storing, and distributing products to support our network of Fulfillment Centers (FCs). They work smartly to ensure that our FCs receive what they need, when they need it, while improving processes and workflows wherever possible.
In this critical role, you will enjoy varied and great range of interactions daily. You will be responsible for the coordination of engagement events across the site and manage the associated annual budget. This exciting role will allow you to be creative in bringing your ideas and fun initiatives to life, working with our operations teams and driving communication within the SDC. Whatever you find yourself focusing on, it will be aimed at delivering the highest quality service to our internal customers (FCs) and supporting the efficiency of our logistics network.
Key job responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and organize onsite employee engagement events for associates, including competitions, celebrations and handouts, and managing associated budgets and deadlines throughout the year.
- Plan events according to the site’s needs. Prepare posters as well as campaigns around events and work with stakeholders to deliver and implement site projects.
- Manage communication channels across the fulfillment center including newsletters, corporate communications, site-specific message boards, and feedback channels.
- Act as the site Charity Champion in the community, coordinating the site charity budget, working with central teams to embed network initiatives alongside local charity donations and campaigns.
- Manage the network recognition programs onsite for associates and drive participation amongst your leadership team and associate population.
- Be responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the leadership team’s travel and administration, including diary management and recording actions of meetings and driving these to resolution on behalf of the General Manager.
- Working closely with all support staff to build, coordinate and secure robust support and resources for projects and initiatives.
- Welcome and coordinate visitors, on behalf of the General Manager and leadership team of the SDC
A day in the life
Your day at Amazon's new SDC starts early, where you'll jump into managing the General Manager's calendar and preparing for the day's leadership meetings. Throughout the day, you'll seamlessly transition between coordinating site communications, organizing engagement activities, and ensuring smooth operations of the GM's office. You might find yourself planning the next associate recognition event in the morning, followed by facilitating important stakeholder meetings, managing urgent communications between our SDC and the Fulfillment Centers we serve, and coordinating site visits from regional leadership. The afternoon could involve working on the site's charity initiatives, updating communication boards, or analyzing engagement program metrics. No two days are exactly alike - you'll be the key point person keeping everything running smoothly, from managing administrative tasks to driving employee engagement initiatives. Your role is essential in maintaining the pulse of the site, ensuring effective communication flows, and supporting the leadership team in creating a positive work environment at our strategic SDC facility.

We're launching an exciting new operation in Mexico - our first Storage and Distribution Center (SDC) in the country! This represents a significant milestone in Amazon's growth in Latin America, and you'll be part of the founding team that will shape the future of our upstream operations in the region.
This team will play a crucial role in Amazon's supply chain network, managing the strategic storage and distribution of inventory to multiple Fulfillment Centers across Mexico. We're focused on operational excellence, innovative solutions, and continuous improvement as we establish this key node in our logistics network.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of working with computers and Microsoft Office products and applications experience
- High school or equivalent
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
- Are 18 years of age or older
- 2+ years of experience delivering support to one or two Sr. Manager or Director roles
- 2+ years of experience managing travel reservations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with end-to-end project management
- Experience with end-to-end project management
- Understanding of how to create a basic expense and reimbursement report.
- Management of fixed budgets for office administration, on-site events, meetings.
- Strong background of administrative, secretarial support or other management
