A day in the life
This Structures Analysis Engineer will be a SME in secondary and tertiary structures. They perform classical hand calculations for initial sizing and verification while developing detailed finite element models for complex load cases and dynamic responses. Time is split between creating automated analysis tools in Excel/MATLAB to streamline recurring calculations and supporting structural testing activities. They continuously correlate analysis predictions with test data to validate models and improve future predictions. The role demands fluid movement between system-level understanding and local detailed analysis while maintaining rigorous documentation and configuration control of all analytical work.
