Market Intelligence Manager, Kuiper Government Solutions
DESCRIPTION
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The mission of Kuiper Government Solutions (KGS) is to leverage Kuiper satellite communications infrastructure to provide low-latency, high-speed, secure satellite broadband services to United States and allied government customers.
We have an immediate opening for a Market Intelligence Manager to support the KGS team focusing on U.S. Government customers such as NASA, the Department of Defense, and the national security community. As a Market Intelligence Manager, you will coordinate the activities of business development, program management, and product specialists across the company to ensure KGS has accurate market intelligence, seamless knowledge management systems, and a robust go-to-market strategy in line with business objectives. You will generate and evaluate business and financial information to inform assessment of strategic alternatives (e.g., business model, internal investments, competitiveness) across KGS business lines. You will work in a collaborative, analytical, and fast-paced environment and must be comfortable interacting with senior leaders and highly technical cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate must have strong writing skills, ability to produce decision-quality information from raw market data, knowledge of government budget and contracting data sources, and the ability to organize and share such information across the KGS team. Specifically, you will need to lead the collection, analysis and presentation of market intelligence data that will inform high-impact strategic decisions affecting multi-billion-dollar investments.
The best candidates will have deep understanding of market research in the US and international government sector and demonstrated experience leveraging business intelligence tools to empower senior leadership with timely and relevant insights. They will partner across functions to ensure accurate market insights are reflected in business plans that reflect an executable path to long-term goals and objectives. Candidates with demonstrated experience in deployed secure satellite communications services will be preferred.
Key job responsibilities
This role is responsible for maintaining the KGS market intelligence knowledge management systems, both building effective information sharing systems and keeping them up to date with current trends in the government satellite communications sector via internal, open-source, and third-party data sources. You will be responsible for developing and managing the data management infrastructure, including interfacing with technical operations, program management, product, and business development teams to ensure cross-functional synchronization with trends in KGS market segments. The ideal candidate will have experience in market research and business case analysis and be adept at turning raw data into actionable, decision-quality information.
This is a unique opportunity to assist in the development of a global broadband communication system. You will work closely with the KGS business development team as well as the technical program management and product teams to cultivate, develop, and institute best industry intelligence practices across the enterprise. In addition, you will be responsible for delivering actionable, objective insights to KGS leaders to inform the strategic go-to-market approach.
In this role you will:
• Develop an integrated view of the current and future business environment
• Manage the analytics function to define data-driven methodologies to analyze pipeline and sales performance metrics and process improvements options.
• Develop knowledge management tools required to turn market intelligence data into decision-quality information readily available to the KGS leadership team
• Work together with marketing and technical operations teams to learn, analyze and develop visualizations of information about industry and industry trends, expansion opportunities, analytics, current and future business opportunities
• Identify and track emerging opportunities
• Conduct reviews of the national defense strategy; US defense & space budget; federal, state and local government solicitation activity, and other relevant business intelligence sources important to KGS strategy, market forecasting, investment planning and revenue generation
• Keep abreast of policy developments that have a significant impact on U.S. government SATCOM services.
• Understand the DoD budget process and analyze the annual Presidential Budget Request to identify opportunities for KGS
• Understand international defense budget processes and related information and identify opportunities for KGS
• Create forecasts to translate relevant industry trends into long-range addressable and serviceable market estimates
• Develop business case analyses to assist in evaluation of decisions such as product line investment, pursuit prioritization and bid/no-bid.
• Coordinate with business teams in development of the KGS sales funnel, pipeline forecast and capture process
• Contribute insight derived from knowledge and analysis of the government SATCOM industry customers and competitors, including value of companies and products, in order to inform strategic decisions such as entering new market segments, developing products, or stopping production of existing products
• Partner with internal product line, business line & operations leadership to coordinate plans to implement the KGS business strategy; work with colleagues to identify and implement what each department needs to do to make the collective go-to-market strategy work
• Support the process of translating relevant industry trends, needs and requirements into KGS product development and operations planning
This position is in Arlington, VA. Some travel, primarily domestic, will be required.
Security Clearance: This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in economics, data science, knowledge management or related field
- 5+ years of experience leading matrix teams in collecting, organizing, synthesizing, and analyzing data, summarizing findings from appropriate data sources, and developing business case analyses and recommendations
- 5+ years of experience monitoring and evaluating space-industry and defense-sector trends
- 5+ years of experience leading strategic planning processes across functional teams, building processes and coordinating go-to-market strategies.
- 5+ years of experience managing pools of contracted syndicated and bespoke market research resources, including owning vendor relationships and leading teams to drive results
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree or PhD in related field.
- Experience supporting business segment strategic planning processes, including data management, analysis, forecasting, and managing internal company relationships to ensure alignment with the opportunity pipeline
- Experience with Confluence and JIRA
- Experience leading market research teams/initiatives to support senior-leader decision making in the government satellite communications industry sector
