We are looking for the next member of our team to do just that as an integral part of our economic development efforts.

This role requires a leader who can be inventive and bold while delivering operational excellence and program success. They will have the opportunity to create and lead a portfolio of programs within our team’s broader efforts to develop sustainable and durable economic and work force development partnerships in prospective communities and in those where we already operate. This includes analyzing labor demand and supply side dynamics, building novel partnership models and approaches, marshalling internal and external resources, aligning external political leadership, and partnering with other allied employers and educational institutions (globally and at all levels). This role requires balancing competing priorities in an ambiguous environment.


Key job responsibilities

• Be the voice of the customer (internal and external), ensuring that their needs are at the forefront of our efforts and help our team iterate and improve on our content offerings.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders (e.g. political, economic development, and education leaders, faculty, and employers) and internal teams (e.g. infrastructure, training, public relations, public policy, and recruiting).
• Drive successful implementation, including curriculum and program development, educator professional development, employer engagement, collaboration with government, non-profit organizations, and other workforce development organizations.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to create strategically aligned workforce development plans that meet the short & long term needs of AWS Infrastructure expansion projects
• Manage program deliverables within budgetary, resourcing, and scheduling requirements against defined project milestones and deadlines.
• Work with our own research and analysis team to map in-demand workforce competencies and evaluate program effectiveness of existing and new program offerings.
• Frequent travel based on business needs, domestic and globally, and sometimes on short notice.


A day in the life
The role will be responsible for identifying evolving opportunities and leading an entrepreneurial approach to developing new solutions and approaches, building consensus internally and externally, iterating through real world pilot launches, fostering adoption, and driving implementation to scale.

About the team
AWS Economic Development is a part of the Global Public Policy team and we work seamlessly with our public policy teammates, internal customers (particularly AWS infrastructure teams), and colleagues across Amazon.com to drive a robust and highly successful portfolio of data center infrastructure-based workforce development programs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

10+ years’ experience in education leadership, consulting, workforce development, economic development, public policy, or related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in fast-paced entrepreneurial startup and/or corporate culture.
• Broad experience, across functional and technical areas, designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining large scale projects.
• Relevant Program Management experience to include a thorough knowledge of program management lifecycle and project management tools/methodologies
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to delve into details, monitor implementation and enablement activity metrics, and determine corrective action.
• Ability to effectively prioritize in a highly ambiguous environment and within cross-functional, global teams.
• Experience developing curriculum, assessments and program accreditation.
• Experience in education, career preparation counseling, learning management, workforce development, recruitment, HR or related field.
• Experience with and/or knowledge of curriculum development tools and practices

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $245,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
