UK Editor, Amazon News
DESCRIPTION
Amazon is seeking an Editor to oversee the editorial content strategy for About Amazon’s UK site (https://www.aboutamazon.co.uk/). This role is on the Amazon News team, which aims to make About Amazon the first and most trusted source of information and news about Amazon for external audiences.
This person will be responsible for creating, editing, and packaging original stories about the company, including both news and evergreen content. The role will work closely with stakeholders on the UK communications team and other teams across the organization to frame and optimize Amazon news stories. This position will be located in Amazon’s London office.
The ideal candidate is an experienced digital journalist or storyteller with strong news judgment, innovative content ideas, and excellent writing and editing skills who will help create stories that Amazon’s audiences care about. This person will be responsible for ideating with multiple teams and assigning, generating, and editing original stories about Amazon across a wide range of topics, using a mix of audience data and innate story judgment. The ideal candidate has experience in data-driven digital journalism and a strong understanding of how to use SEO to guide an editorial content strategy.
The candidate will partner closely with PR stakeholders to understand unique objectives, audiences and messages for each piece of content and use those inputs to develop content strategies and expand the reach of these stories. They should be someone who is comfortable with change and embraces experimentation, but is also willing to stand by their decisions, even if it means disagreeing with partners on occasion.
The ideal candidate should be an excellent communicator and highly organized, preferably with experience working with freelance writers — while this is an individual contributor role, the person would be expected to manage and edit the work of freelance/contract writers.
The successful candidate will have experience developing and delivering compelling stories with measurable results, a strong understanding of the current digital content landscape and should enjoy working in a fast-paced start-up culture.
