Software Development Manager, COMS Tech

Trustworthy Shopping Experience Operations (TSE Ops) is part of Selling Partner Service (SPS) org, strives to guarantee customers a trustworthy shopping and ordering experience so they can shop with confidence on Amazon.
We are looking for an exceptional engineering leader to lead a team of talented engineers to develop innovative solutions for the Regulatory Intelligence, Safety and Compliance (RISC) programs and Operations workforce. Our COMS tech team owns Medux, a Human In The Loop (HITL) system that facilitates Operations teams with automated work allocation, skill management, and dynamic work execution interfaces to facilitate manual action catering to multiple compliance requirements.

In this role as a Software Development Manager you will be responsible for planning, scoping, delivering, and maintaining software products for our Operations team. Responsibilities include collection of business requirements from internal and external customers, writing user stories, driving project milestones, hiring and managing a team of developers, and working with product managers and designers through the entire process to release.
Key job responsibilities
Engineering leader with 7+ years experience who is able to think strategic, deliver programs of high quality that is highly scalable with limited guidance.
Collaborate with software developers and managers to architect and develop the best technical designs, architectures and implementations.
Innovate and solve highly ambiguous problems by driving the teams to deliver simplified solution.
Develop monthly, quarterly and yearly strategy and roadmaps for the team based on project priorities and project benefit.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
Work with Product and Program Managers to develop and evolve the vision and strategy for the team.
Use Agile principles to run the development lifecycle for team’s applications and services.
Manage, execute and communicate project plans and delivery commitments.
Lead with empathy. Staff, mentor, grow people while evolving the charter into best-of-class software development team.

Within TSE Ops it focuses on the needs of the Regulatory Intelligence, Safety and Compliance (RISC) programs. COMS Team owns Medux, Human In The Loop (HITL) system that facilitates Operations teams with automated work allocation, skill management and dynamic work execution interfaces to facilitate manual action catering to multiple compliance requirements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
