Principal Engagement Manager, AWS Training & Certification
DESCRIPTION
AWS Training and Certification (T&C) is looking for a customer-focused, proactive, strategic, and detail-oriented Principal Engagement Manager who is passionate about maximizing the impact and scale of the T&C organization, and committed to driving business outcomes. This role, reporting to the Vice President, T&C, will be instrumental in leading large-scale, complex projects that integrate multiple workstreams and serves as the bridge between AWS cross-functional teams (T&C, Global Services, Sales, Marketing). The Principal Engagement Manager is a highly resourceful, self-driven individual with the ability to partner, execute, and lead through influence and collaboration across all groups within AWS.
As the Principal Engagement Manager, you will own crucial elements of the day-to-day business, and work closely with executive leaders, field teams, and customers to enable workforce transformation and skills initiatives. You will provide high-level briefings for customer executive teams, including Senior Vice Presidents (SVPs) and Vice Presidents (VPs). You will direct the forward-looking execution of team priorities, manage complex customer engagements, and ensure strategic alignment and success of our projects. The role requires working with executive leaders within the T&C organization, and a high degree of strategy, operational excellence, communications expertise, project management, and collaboration skills. You are able to navigate a high degree of complexity, distill information, think strategically at a global level as well as develop key processes, and deliver and distribute information across multiple channels and mediums. The successful candidate must have exceptional problem-solving skills, strong business judgement, and demonstrated experience influencing both internally and externally at all levels, as well as proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically. This position requires a candidate who is customer focused and has the ability to prioritize work and maintain good judgment in a rapidly changing environment and synthesize insights and next steps from a large amount of sometimes connecting data to identify common patterns, meet customer requirements, and accelerate AWS’s business.
Key job responsibilities
• Executive Briefings, Facilitation, and Reporting: Prepare and deliver executive-level briefings and materials to VPs, ensuring clarity and alignment with business objectives. Serve as the primary point of contact for executive stakeholders and internal teams, maintaining continuous communication and transparency throughout project lifecycles. Facilitate executive-level meetings, articulating project status, challenges, strategic recommendations, and the progress of contract deliverables.
• Executive Communication and Engagement: Exceptional written, presentation, and verbal communications skills that can be applied across organizational levels, including ability to build comprehensive, compelling, and actionable presentation and communication materials that span functions and groups. In coordination with the Global Services communications and Marketing teams, identify themes in alignment with customer feedback and the organization’s goals. Ensure themes are amplified through internal and external events, customer interactions, case study development, solutions portfolio development, and other communications.
• Customer Engagement and Follow Through: In close coordination with the VP, T&C prioritize customer meetings for maximum business impact. Guide and oversee complex sales customer engagements to ensure appropriate next steps and follow through are captured. Participate in customer meetings and activities, determine slate of appropriate attendees, consolidate actions, and ensure follow through by direct and indirect organizations.
• Special Programs/Projects and Strategy Implementation: Define, plan, and manage strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects contributing to the overall success of the organization. Plan, lead, and facilitate leadership and team on-sites, prioritizing messaging and presentation development, ensuring objectives are achieved.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Team Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure alignment and support for strategic initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze data requirements, ensuring they are clearly defined and integrated into project plans. Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to project teams, enhancing their capabilities and ensuring high performance.
• Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Continuously evaluate project processes and outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and innovation. Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to incorporate best practices into project management, including refining data requirements gathering processes.
• Accountability and Success Metrics: Take full responsibility for the engagement’s success, tracking performance metrics and adjusting strategies as necessary to meet business objectives. Ensure that all project deliverables meet the quality standards and strategic goals set by the organization, including the timely and accurate delivery of proposals and contract execution. Build and maintain trust through transparent communications at all levels of the training and certification organization and stakeholders in the AWS field and services teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of professional or military experience
- 7+ years of experience of building and leading large teams and working in matrixed operating structures in a technology-focused environment.
- 5+ years of experience managing large-scale, cross-functional projects, including building sustainable processes and coordinating complex schedules.
- 5+ years of experience developing customer-facing presentations.
- Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C-level executives and cross functional teams or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning.
- Superior written and oral communication skills, particularly in executive settings.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $158,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $262,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
