Principal Finance Manager, JP 3P Finance
DESCRIPTION
The Amazon Japan Marketplace business is looking for a Principal Finance Manager to join the Japan Seller Services Finance Team. “Finance” in Amazon has similarities to 経営企画室・経営戦略本部 in Japanese companies in which you own a wide variety of planning and analysis responsibilities.
Amazon Marketplace has been the engine of growth for Amazon for the past several years. This is an opportunity to be part of Amazon’s international growth story, by shaping the opportunity for third party sellers (from both domestic and out of country) to sell on the JP Marketplace. The Principal Finance Manager will partner closely with the JP Seller Services Leadership team to enhance seller experience and drive growth of our selection through promotion and expansion initiatives; and improving our financials via fees and cost savings initiatives. He/she will also collaborate with our international and cross-functional partner teams such as central International Seller Services finance, Operations, and Retail. Key deliverables include controllership, operational planning, goal setting and tracking, providing financial outlook for business projects, and business partnering.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as the controller and finance process for the Japan Seller Services business
- Partner with Directors and Senior Managers to drive the success of our strategic initiatives.
- Collaboratively work across finance and business teams to create value by identifying challenges and working together to solve problems which arise in the business
- Conduct business reviews, evaluate progress toward business goals, and communicate progress to senior management
- Dive deep into our business operations and processes to identify opportunities for growth acceleration and cost reduction
- Mentor and coach junior members
A day in the life
The Principal Finance Manager will partner closely with the JP Seller Services Leadership team to enhance seller experience and drive growth of our selection through promotion and expansion initiatives; support the development of new businesses; and improve our financials via fees and cost savings initiatives. He/she will also collaborate with related finance organizations, and with our international and cross-functional partner teams such as supply chain, operations, and retail. Key deliverables include creating controllership mechanisms, operational planning, goal setting and tracking, and financial plans for business projects.

We are a team of six Finance leaders that support a large and fast growing business. Our team is diverse in nationality, gender, and background, and we bring our knowledge and experience together so that we can effectively support the business growth and deliver long term free cashflow.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of finance technology, forecast & budgeting, or other finance-focused competency experience
- Experience building and leading in a complex finance team through a mixed finance skill set (commercial finance, accounting, FP&A, audit, operations)
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Experience working cross-functionally with a wide breadth of stakeholders, users, engineers, and leaders to generate buy-in
- Experience with process improvement and delivery of financial features
- Business level English communication skill
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA, or CPA
- Experience in a high volume, transactional and distributed system environment
- Experience in a leadership position managing finance, accounting and operational processes
- Knowledge of accounting for retail payments, e-commerce or financial services industry
- Japanese language skills
