As a Sr. Failure Analysis Engineer, you will be responsible for rapid root cause analysis for issues from the test, manufacture, and the field. You will identify the failure at the component and system level, design a failure analysis plan to diagnose the root causes, and execute it from strategy to operating tools in the lab. You will write clear and concise failure analysis report, communicate effectively, and deliver the solution precisely to multifunctional teams. You will advise on strategies to mitigate issues and make a direct impact to cutting edge designs. Your corrective actions will improve the product quality to meet hardware reliability specifications and product timelines. You will also conduct materials characterization and analysis to aid designs. You will also have the opportunity to leverage both internal and external laboratories for the investigation of escalated issues.
You will be a technical go-to person and a key influencer in the local failure analysis team in Shenzhen. You are an expert in an array of failure analysis techniques, and will be able to develop new diagnostic tools/tests and more efficient failure analysis techniques. You are familiar with a variety of materials like plastics, glass and metals. To enable this, you will be an expert in the following: OM, SEM/EDX, X-section, 2D and CT X-ray, XRF, FTIR, DSC, TGA, and GC/MS.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering (EE), or a related field
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with materials and failure analysis techniques, such as X-ray, SEM, EDS, XRF, GC-MS, FTIR, Raman, Lock-in Thermography, and Thermal analysis
- Experience in failure analysis of devices related to fatigue, vibration and shock, electrical stress, environmental stress tests, as well as device and PCBA manufacturing and assembly issues
- Experience in writing final failure analysis reports and delivering presentations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's or Ph.D. in MSE, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, EE, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in a consumer electronics industrial setting
- Experience with electronic test equipment (digital/analog) such as Oscilloscopes, Curve Tracers, Source Meters, Thermal Imaging, and TDRs to do board failure analysis and debug
- Demonstrated ability to uncover issues and drive failure analysis to root cause swiftly and accurately
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners
