Finance Manager, Amazon EU Global Logistics

Global Logistics at Amazon is growing and you should join us! We are looking for a driven and analytical Finance Manager who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment to support the European Global Logistics end to end supply chain. What is Global Logistics end to end chain? It is all the transportation modes that move imports freight from origin, ocean ports to inland warehouses. The role will require learning quickly to understand the big picture of how Global Logistics fits into Amazon's overall supply chain, gaining proficiency in our data to capture the right details, communicating clearly to effectively partner with business leaders to influence decisions. This role requires a Finance Manager who demonstrates high judgement with an ability to drive strategic and tactical goals to improve the economics of the business.
This role partners closely with a broad range of finance and business leaders across North America, Asia and Europe. The key stakeholders are BI (NA Based), operations executional teams (Global), long term planning teams (NA Based), product teams (NA and EU based), and FP&A. This role works with program managers, supply chain managers, and product managers.
Key job responsibilities
Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon. These decisions can have global impact.
- Delivers weekly/monthly financial close. Uses financial systems and advanced MS Excel and SQL functions to work with large data sets. Outputs plans, forecasts, budgets, and consolidations.
- Creates effective business partnerships, manages competing priorities, and provides guidance based on data analysis during unexpected events
- Uses active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjusts style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.
- Collects and analyses quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive cost reductions.
- Seeks and leverages diverse perspectives in all activities.
- Identifies opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improves, scales, or simplifies finance tools across teams and organizations.

A day in the life
The role will drive improvements in Heartbeat (the Global Logistics manifesting system) covering all destination legs, co-ordinate with the Seattle based BI team and destination finance in both EU and NA to drive forward development and improvements to our Global Logistics manifesting systems and dashboarding capabilities.
A typical day as the Finance Manager will provide an opportunity to own high-impact projects that drive cost out of the business, build out accurate and insightful reporting, and develop influential frameworks that drive key decision making for an evolving business.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or a Bachelor's degree and experience in quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance)
- Experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field
- Experience in multiple finance and accounting roles
- Experience in accounts receivable or account payable
- Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses
- Experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making
- Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis
- Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan
- Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
