The Role:
As a Software Development Engineer, you will work with different teams to deliver software across driver and framework to meet customer, business, and/or technology needs. You own existing software in a segment of a business, functional area, or technology. As the owner, you are accountable for the customer experience, project prioritization, software quality, product maintainability. You understand the larger picture (i.e., customer requirements, business process, opportunities, and/or problems to be solved). You are learning how to be strategic and seek guidance on long-term direction.
Key job responsibilities
- Work with product management and cross functional teams to provide technical solutions for desired user experiences.
- Implement high-quality hardware driver, OS framework and application features.
- Implement and provide testing facilities and tools for QA, HW and factory teams.
- Implement the right metrics, debug tools and integrate with backend solutions to continuously measure and improve on our solutions.
- Support compliance and certification activities.
- Be able to occasionally travel domestically and internationally.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 8+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Strong programming ability in C/C++, ability to program in JavaScript or Rust will be a plus. Experience in any OS framework design and development will be a big plus, including application framework, UI/GFX framework, database and security.
