We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Regional Leader to manage our existing APAC environmental due diligence and environmental permitting team. Based in Sydney, this leadership role will involve leading the APAC environmental permitting team. You will have responsibility for overall team delivery and success. Our scale of growth and success means that this is a fast-paced leadership role and critical to AWS's ongoing success!



Key job responsibilities
- Be responsible for and manage the APAC environmental due diligence and permitting team.
- Manage team deliverables and drive a high-quality bar for the team and the completion of our work scopes.
- Design and develop systems, tools and standards to allow the team to meet the growing business needs and deadlines.
- Lead on regulatory, authority and agency negotiation.
- Collaborate with the regional leadership of essential AWS teams (Real Estate, Risk & Resiliency, Design Engineering, Legal).


A day in the life
A typical day involves managing the APAC team as they delivery site-development projects all at various stages of development. Some will be at the due diligence stage so work would involve reviewing due diligence reports and identifying risks and mitigations needed for site acquisition. Other projects will be in design and permitting and work for this involves managing environmental studies and permit submittals.

You will sign-off on and approve site acquisition and due diligence studies, working with the team as they manage consultants. You will also manage the team as they prepare environmental permits, signing-off on key studies and mitigation measures. Lastly, you will work closely with regional leadership in Real Estate, Risk and Design Engineering to resolve critical-business risks.

About the team
You will manage the APAC Infrastructure-Development (InfraDev) team within the global Environmental organization of AWS. We are responsible for environmental due diligence, permitting and approvals for all new AWS sites in Asia-Pacific.

We are a small team but highly-effective. The APAC team sits in global InfraDev team, with regional teams in APAC, AMER and AMEA. We are part of the overall AWS Environmental org.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering, science, or related field of study.
• Experience in leading teams who obtaining environmental permits in APAC for project development and the management of consultant deliverables and quality.
• Experience of functioning as leader within large infrastructure organizations who acquire, develop, construct and deliver site for development.
• Travel estimated at 20% in APAC to visit potential sites and sites subject to design and permitting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Highly autonomous and can work with minimal guidance with excellent organizational and team management skills.
- Experience in leading teams in a fast paced, changing/growing organization.
- Several years of experience managing globally distributed/dispersed teams in Asia
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability across multiple jurisdictions.
