Software Development Engineer (2 years contract), Japan Store Tech

We're seeking a two-year Full-time Contract (FTC) Software Development Engineer (SDE) in our Japan Store Technology (JST) team. The SDE will support and work with JST's Applied Scientists (AS) and Business Partners to enhance search quality through the Amazon Business (AB)'s Mission-Oriented Search Experience (MOSE) features for Amazon's B2B customers in JP. The SDE's responsibilities will include supporting AS to design, code, troubleshoot, and support scalable machine-learning operation with standardized data pipelines, and then develop operational code to work with AS to implement end-to-end ML solutions for localizing the AB search experience for the Japan marketplace, and test and optimize their performance.
Key job responsibilities
* Standardize the data processing process, build reusable data pipeline with State-of-the-Art (SOTA) toolchains, and integrate the pipeline with machine learning based search solutions.
* Work closely with applied scientists to optimize the performance of machine-learning based query understanding and search ranking models and infrastructure, and implement end-to-end solutions.
* Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to contribute to the technical excellence to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market to meet JP customer needs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
- 3+ years of machine learning, statistical modeling, data mining, and analytics techniques experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in machine learning, data analytics and processing, information retrieval, or natural language processing
