Finance Manager, Project Kuiper

Are you ready to get in on the ground floor of Amazon’s long-term initiative to design, launch and maintain a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world?
It’s Day 1 for Amazon’s next billion dollar business and we are looking for an entrepreneurial minded Finance Manager to work in a start-up environment who is passionate about technology, manufacturing and FP&A, who thinks/acts globally, and has the ability to create and implement solutions, processes and controls.
This position will partner with several teams that are developing, manufacturing and producing customer terminals as well as developing satellite antennas. The successful candidate will need to be strategic, analytical, and have the demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment. The candidate must be able to think and act both strategically and tactically and manage multiple competing priorities effectively. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to improve and create new measures for business effectiveness, innovate creative solutions utilizing large scale data mining tools, and identify high priority projects to maximize results for key stakeholders. Success in this role requires one to partner with and influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment. This includes bringing best-in-class business partnership while providing strong controllership, being comfortable leading analysis projects with high ambiguity, creating a robust process to track and manage the spending needs, presenting to business owners during reviews, and the ability to pivot between the defined financial rhythms and ad-hoc project analyses.
Key job responsibilities
- Create effective business partnerships, manage competing priorities, and provide data driven financial guidance to the business partners.
- Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders.
- Analyze complex financial data and provide accurate and timely reports to key stakeholders, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
- Responsible for delivering monthly/quarterly financial close, planning, forecasting, budgeting, and consolidations utilizing financial systems and advanced excel functions.
- Present financial summaries and business insights to senior management (business and finance).
- Assist in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Participate in finance initiatives, including but not limited to process improvements, ad hoc analyses, and preparation of periodic reporting activities.
- Improve finance processes, scale existing solutions, create new solutions as required based on stakeholder needs.
- Educate business partners on financial and non-financial trade-offs. Make thoughtful judgement calls in ambiguous environments where the data may be scarce or difficult to procure.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
- Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree or MBA
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards) MBA and/or Professional certification (CPA/CMA/Qualified Accounting certificate)
- Prior Telecommunication, Data center, Real Estate, Construction business acumen is preferred
- Project management background is preferred

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
