That includes all of Amazon’s global marketplaces and partner portals, and all of Amazon’s consumer experiences like Kindle, Alexa, Amazon Video, Mobile Application; Physical Stores, Luna.... Not only we help deliver the html that delights our customers, we make sure that all underlying transactions are processed error-free. This includes payments, tax, contracts, returns, inventory, and notifications; and brand new experiences that have never been done before.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, system, and support engineers, operations managers, and other vital roles in Dublin, Seattle, New York, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Sydney. You’ll collaborate with people across Amazon to help us deliver seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers, experiencing an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

We are a data driven organization and are looking for an expert to lead our continued use of data in the future. To make sure we do this the right way, we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the Dublin team and lead our global data strategy, make high quality data the heart of everything we do, and drive collaboration with our partners.

Key job responsibilities
* Ensure that the data exists to make ICON a data driven organisation
* Create an ICON Data Strategy, collaborating with partner teams to ensure alignment
* Work with ICON Leadership and Project Management to identify and define ICON KPIs and business and program metrics. Own the presentation and availability of this data to support Quarterly Business Reviews
* Work with ICON SysDE and SDE organisations to drive creation and use of high quality data sets across all tooling
* Identify technologies and mechanisms to be used for data processing, validation, management, storage, operations, visualisation, and access.
* Create and maintain an ICON data catalogue covering all data used by ICON and understand how it relates to data across the wider organisation.
* Input into SysDE and SDE Design Reviews to ensure Data Strategy is adhered to or modified to support new requirements.
* Act as the SME for data across ICON and their partners supporting data and ML initiatives.
* Support SysDE and SDEs implementing data related activities (analysis, pipelines, etc)
* Define SOPs for Technical Program Managers and Tech Leads to create dashboards and analysis.
* Perform hands on prototyping and development of data processing and analysis tooling to inform Data Strategy and technology selection.
* Innovate: Once you understand the data, show us what we can do with it to improve life for our customers and our team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in data engineering
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience providing technical leadership on high-impact cross-fucntional technical project
- Knowledge of data mining techniques, predictive analytics, and statistical modeling
- Familiarity with BI and Visualization platforms such as AWS Quicksight
