The AWS Networking organization is hiring, and we’re looking for a great Software Development Engineer (SDE) to join our Frontier Networking Team. Our team is a hybrid team with Network, Software and System Development Engineers working in tandem to build the right solutions to support Frontier Networking products. If you have an interest in building large-scale, high-performance, customer-centric products and think end-to-end, this may be the job you've been looking for. You’ll work closely with other stakeholder teams making up the larger Frontier Networking development group. This is an opportunity to join an established team where you can heavily influence the strategic and day to day decisions that shape how the team and our products evolve.

Software Development Engineers in this team focus on developing scalable and operable software that allows us to automatically deploy, configure, observe and operate the Frontier networking Products including AWS Outposts. You'll create professional quality software by applying software engineering best practices, while being exposed to cutting edge technologies.
Our engineers require a strong coding skillset and a detailed knowledge of software development best practice. Depth in one or more of the following would be advantageous: distributed high volume transactional systems, API and Service Management, Device and Service Instrumentation, Systems engineering, Linux operating systems, security and/or networking.
Candidates should have experience working on and driving large projects with ambitious timelines and ideally using agile methodologies to manage their delivery. We expect engineers to work closely with peer and dependency teams within Networking and the larger Frontier Networking community, to deliver the right solutions for our customers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact efficiently with peers and customers is required. The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment is essential.

Key job responsibilities
- Design and develop features and functions to that support requests from stakeholders across Frontier Networking and associated teams
-Support and solve issues with core Service APIs supporting Frontier Networking Software
- Working with highly resilient, large scale distributed services that help manage and monitor Frontier Networking devices
- Automate and support automation of key processes and effort to remove manual effort from support services and maintaining fleets
- Introducing and experimenting with new development and technology choices to enhance efficiency and solve problems - not limited to anyone technology approach
- Using an Agile approach to develop, release and maintain software according to Amazon's best practices and builder practices
- working in a flexible, fast-paced, collaborative team environment where getting problems solved and giving customers the best experience is vital

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
