Amazon ads exists at the intersection of marketing and ecommerce and offers advertisers a rich array of innovative advertising solutions across Amazon owned properties as well as third party properties Amazon operates. We are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to help scale our growing advertising business globally. The Data Scientist, Marketing Insights is a key member of the Global Marketing Insights team at Amazon Ads, working with multi-functional partners including SMB Marketing, product, engineering, and other Amazon business teams to analyze and improve advertisers’ performance on Amazon, in support of their marketing initiatives. The Data Scientist will work with Amazon's unique insights, recommendations, and data to translate it into high-quality and actionable content. This content will improve our Advertiser’s marketing strategies and unlock business opportunities globally. Day to day, this role's activities include aggregating, analyzing, and developing insights in order to curate content to develop data-driven narratives. These narratives are compelling, end-to-end and are used by our marketing team partners in campaigns across channels and audiences.


Key job responsibilities
Deliver compelling insights seen by hundreds of thousands of advertisers to drive business growth.

· Demonstrate deep analytical ability, and develop great expertise in Amazon’s proprietary metrics, working to constantly evolve how we analyze and communicate data driven insights to our advertisers.

· Be able to deal with ambiguity in order decipher complex problems, select an ideal solution from a wide array of analytic techniques and concepts and translate into compelling content.

· Have the ability to collaborate, work cross-functionally and communicate effectively across multiple business functions and geographies.

· Be someone who enjoys learning new skills and adopting new analytical methodologies and tools.

· Enjoys working across products, marketing channels and geographies in a truly global fashion.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree plus relevant experience in client-facing data analysis/data science roles
- Excellent data driven storytelling skills – you craft compelling content and narratives included in key campaigns
- Advanced in SQL - ability to write complex queries from scratch from multiple tables, creating the appropriate joins, extracting and manipulating data, formatting fields, creating new measures and metrics, etc.
- Fluency with an advanced analytical tool (Python, R, SAS, etc.) – ability to run advanced statistical modelling and testing in one of the above languages
- Ability to create interactive, user-friendly and compelling dashboards and reports.
- Complete understanding of the end-to-end process of marketing campaign development and execution.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with advertising publishers and marketing/creative agencies
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Economics, Marketing, Statistics, Advertising, or Business/Digital media planning experience
- Experience in performance advertising in a role where you managed significant complexity and scaling challenges
- Experience in hypothesis testing, causal inference, experimental design, A/B testing
- Experience and familiarity with AWS stack
