Are you experienced in Critical Infrastructure Commissioning Processes? Amazon Data Center Commissioning (ACx) is looking for an exceptional individual to join our Commissioning organization as the Australia New Zealand (ANZ) Commissioning Manager. As a sub-regional Commissioning Manager, you will manage a fast-moving, intelligent team of commissioning professionals delivering data center capacity to support Amazon's growth in ANZ. You will manage an international, or multi-city team of highly skilled individuals in building, retrofitting and improving AWS owned critical infrastructures within APJC and globally. We understand, evaluate, define and manage the expectations of construction and equipment quality in accordance with engineering design specifications. Working backwards from our customers, we innovate and are committed to deliver customer satisfaction.
Key job responsibilities
The responsibilities of the ANZ Commissioning Manager include owning the challenges in ensuring the quality and reliability of electrical and mechanical systems for our customers. You will think broadly and strategically in setting visions and prioritizing the commissioning program aligned with goals of the larger organization. You lead a team of commissioning engineers, with broad responsibilities to hire, build a high-performing team and lead the safety culture by example. Utilizing industrial standards and company goals, you develop and manage quality-focused initiatives, manage and analyze metrics to drive innovation and continuous improvements. You communicate and provide guidance to Finance during capital budgeting, making data-driven decisions to deliver predictable cost estimations. You create standards and build consensus with a broad spectrum of stakeholders on cross-functional teams that will operate to deliver on the quality policy.
In this role, you will have an APJC and global presence, which will include 15% traveling to sites located in-country, across APJC and globally. As a leader, you provide clear communication and vision for the business. You own a systemized commissioning approach and are accountable for your team's compliance with commissioning procedures, quality, environmental, safety practices, policies, and procedures. You will also participate in all projects and company safety programs. You report to the APJC Commissioning Sr. Manager, and you develop metrics to ensure compliance with business requirements and safety. You are accountable for weekly reporting of commissioning progress and metrics for your team's projects. You communicate clearly both verbally and written, leveraging interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with stakeholders, using data to justify conclusions when dealing with ambiguity. You dig deep to develop creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs and duration with no impact to quality and reliability. You will work in a high-velocity environment, on multiple strategic initiatives, and maintain a high-performing team simultaneously under tight deadlines and according to prescribed metrics.
Systemize Execution:
* Identify key value drivers that contribute to commissioning successes and determine their effectiveness through the development of metrics.
* Define the organizational structure to meet short-term and long-range business requirements.
* Develop an inspection and reporting structure to audit and maintain commissioning programs and business requirements.
* Conduct in-depth data analysis to develop cross-functional mechanisms to improve overall organizational metrics using knowledge, experience, and innovation.
* Lead the development of process improvement strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Systemize Optimization:
* Identify improvement opportunities, fix broken processes, convert proven concepts into mechanisms, and iterate existing mechanisms to improve metrics.
* Develop metrics that measure the performance of commissioning key value drivers and stress-test the effectiveness of existing mechanisms.
* Establish a cadence to inspect performances, ensure compliance, provide insights to improve metrics, and track them to success.
* Communicate clearly the areas of improvement and reinforcement to develop an improvement and scaling plan.
Project and Business Management:
* Leads the team with creativity to overcome obstacles and drives further escalation to overcome obstacles when stuck.
* Leads performance management of the team and vendors.
* Leads capital budget and organizational planning.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Controls Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in any one of the following areas: Commissioning; Mechanical/Electrical/Controls Design; Construction Project Management; Control System installation or maintenance; HVAC testing and balancing; Facilities operations and/or maintenance.
- 3+ years' experience in people management: hiring; organizational planning; building a team; performance management; mentoring; coaching.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years’ experience with goal setting and metrics development, business case analysis to justify project scope and financial position for management review
- 5+ years’ experience in delivering mission critical/complex infrastructures in either mechanical/electrical/controls systems
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical or control systems
