Software Development Engineer, AWS Systems Manager
DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer (SDE) to help our development team in Berlin, Germany build exciting products, services, and user experiences for AWS Systems Manager.
Our team owns multiple critical pieces of the AWS Systems Manager ecosystem, such as QuickSetup, Distributor, and various console experiences and backend components that improve the ways our customers interact with AWS. You should be passionate about being part of a world-class team that does this while welcoming, celebrating, and including a diverse set of backgrounds and skillsets to deliver results.
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Key job responsibilities
- Designing new software, designing updates to existing software, development (coding)
- Mentoring more junior developers, participating in recruiting activities.
- Operating and improving existing software, troubleshooting, and testing.
Our team takes ownership over our products end to end, so, being willing to wear many hats is a must.
About the team
Systems Manager is an operational hub for Amazon Web Services. Customers ranging from Startups to Enterprises run critical components, and, often even their entire infrastructure on Systems Manager. As such, making sure customers have the right products, services, and experiences to do this well is absolutely important to us.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
