DESCRIPTION

As a Business Development of Startup Ecosystem in Japan, you will help shape and deliver on a strategy for AWS to build mind share and broad use of its cloud computing platform among startups. The global landscape of e startups is vast and complex. You will support the Startup Business Development team in better understanding this landscape, digging deep to bring data and insight to light that will enable the entire team to optimally engage startup teams.

Key job responsibilities
- Identify who to engage within the startup ecosystem to drive affinity for AWS among startups
- Work directly with venture capitals, corporate venture capitals, angels, incubators, accelerators and other startup ecosystem partners to ensure their portfolio startup companies are long-term AWS customers
- Develop scalable strategies that allow AWS to deliver appropriate value to startup organizations
- Recommending, implementing and reporting on AWS’s metrics within the startup ecosystem

A day in the life
- Work closely with the AWS sales team, drive the day-to-day interactions with startups in order to build long-term opportunities
- Understand and actively utilize Salesforce.com and other internal Amazon systems

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 8+ years of relevant work experience and knowledge within the startup ecosystem
- Ability to communicate both verbal and written in English and Japanese

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Passion for startups –understanding of how startups operate and the unique characteristics of startup ecosystems and communities
- Some relevant business level technical knowledge (fundamentals of cloud computing and virtualization, with the ability to differentiate between varied AWS services)
- Ability to communicate AWS’s value proposition to startups and their influencers
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects - work prioritization, planning and task delegation)
- Experience with and knowledge of VC, investors, and the Accelerators or Incubators community
- Experience as a startup founder or investor
- Well networked in the Startup Ecosystem and a regular at key startup events
- Experience with account management, relationship management, or technical sales MBA or graduate degree
- Ability to handle a multiple stakeholder engagements within a complex organization.
