Sharbani joined Amazon in 2014 after completing her MBA at Stanford and working in tech startups. She began with a role growing and leading the baby registry team, overhauling the strategic vision, coordinating strategic relationships, and testing and launching delightful features such as the first sample box. She then started her adventure with the Alexa team in early 2015, and established the Cameras team in 2016.

“Alexa Smart Home is in a unique position, straddling the fence between hardware and software, between developers and end-customers,” she says. “I was really drawn to this role because of the balance of deep product complexity and deep technical complexity. And, I’m driven by our team’s goal to help customers keep their homes safe and secure and capture meaningful moments in their lives through Alexa-enabled cameras.”

As the Sr. Manager of the Smart Home Cameras team, Sharbani leads business and engineering teams. She needs to thoroughly understand customer needs and industry trends, as well as a wide range of technology including AI, media streaming, realtime communication, iOS and Android app development, and hardware including smart home cameras & doorbells, Alexa-enabled devices like Fire Tablets, FireTV, or AVS devices.

Sharbani has also seen the impact of Alexa on her friends and family — she especially loves to use Alexa to video chat with her family and friends around the world, check-in on her two young daughters via the Alexa-integration with their playroom, set timers to help multi-task while preparing dinner. But her favorite Alexa feature use is her daily morning dance party with her girls who call Alexa “Ka!”
