Operations HR in Spain

Amazon is a vibrant, global, fast-paced organization with core values like creativity, ownership, innovation, and a bias for action. Our mission is "to be Earth's most customer-centric company," and our evolution has been driven by the spirit of innovation that is part of our DNA. We strive to hire the brightest professionals and we believe that employing a diverse workforce is central to our growth.

Our HR managers are customer-obsessed, results-oriented, and agile - they play a critical role in managing human resources initiatives that drive innovation and execution in last mile delivery. They handle employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, training and career development, and employee retention.

First Mile & Customer Fulfillment

Our Human Resource professionals are hands-on generalists that act both tactically and strategically to maximise employee engagement and development. These critical roles require our HR leaders to be in regular contact with fulfilment associates and working closely with operations. By being approachable and genuine, Amazon's HR leaders keep our employees engaged and satisfied. Our HR generalists within Customer Fulfilment sit directly within one of our eight sites in Spain, working as part of a larger local HR team to provide support to our several thousands of employees in these sites.

Core to the business team, not a separate corporate function, HR understands the business and supports its strategy and goals. Our HR generalists are experts in everything from employee relations and works council cooperation to performance management, talent management to succession planning and employee engagement to legislative compliance.

Helena A.P.

Sr. HR Business Partner | Madrid, Spain

Helena joined Amazon in June 2017 as an HR Assistant in Madrid (MAD4) and quickly moved on to launch a new site in Barcelona (BCN2) in October 2017. As the lone HR team member with the support of only four admins, she successfully conquered the ramp up process and Peak season at BCN2 alongside a completely new leadership team with less than 12 months tenure.

During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Helena supported the entire MAD6 site as HR Lead until new team members joined at the end of the year. She organized voting in the MAD6 Work Council election process in January 2021 and has since been promoted to Senior HR Business Partner.

Viola M.

HR Partner | Murcia, Spain

Viola kicked off her Amazon career as an HR Intern in the Castel San Giovanni fulfillment center (MXP5) in February 2020. Initially the internship was supposed to be six months long, but with the arrival of Covid-19 she was only able to complete one month. In May 2020, she was offered a contract as HR Assistant for the same site, which lasted until March 2021. She decided to pursue an internal opportunity to be HR Partner and participated in the launch of the new Murcia (RMU1) site.

Viola feels one of the most positive aspects of working in the HR team is the opportunity to interact with stakeholders from many departments, local and foreign. She believes interacting with people from different backgrounds provides a personal and professional advantage to learn and get different perspectives.

Sabrina U.S.

HR Business Partner | Barcelona, Spain

Sabrina studied Biology and IT in Venezuela, and prior to joining Amazon she worked for nine years for the Ministry of Agriculture. She moved to Spain in 2015 and started to work as an Amazon associate. In 2016, she had the opportunity to become an Operations Admin in Madrid (MAD4) – that was her first experience in an HR role. This opportunity opened her mind and she decided to pivot her field of interest and career to management. In 2020, she moved to Castellbisbal (BCN3) to support the site’s transition from Pantry to FC and take on a new role as an HR Business Partner.

What Sabrina enjoys most about working at Amazon is the opportunity to keep improving, creating new processes, and developing her team. It is always satisfying to see her ideas become a reality.

Middle Mile

Our Middle Mile business is the link between our fulfilment centres and our delivery stations. As opposed to our fulfilment centres, our HR teams are spread across Spain and our HR Business Partners act as HR leads for one single site, supported by a small, local team of HR and Operations Assistants.

Our HR generalists are experts in everything from employee relations to performance management, talent management to succession planning, and employee engagement to legislative compliance. They act as business partners to our site leads and Operations Managers in all areas of the employee cycle.

Cecilia D.M.

HR Partner | Getafe, Spain

Before Cecilia joined Amazon, she worked for Adecco as a consultant hiring people to work in MAD8. Because of this she was already very familiar with the company, so as soon as she had the opportunity to present herself as a candidate to Amazon, she had no doubts. She started as an Ops Admin in 2019, and spent two years learning as much as she could. In December 2020 she was promoted to HR Partner and she feels Amazon has given her an opportunity to start a new career path and grow personally and professionally every day.

Outside of work, Cecilia enjoys going to the gym, walking through the city looking for new special places, hiking, joining music festivals, and thinking about her next trip.

With more than 30 delivery stations in Spain, our HR team is organised regionally and acts as trusted business partners to our delivery station management and employees onsite. AMZL is growing quickly and our HR employees thrive in this agile and fast-paced environment whilst collaborating closely with our Operations stakeholders to provide the best possible employee experience to our associates.
