Prime Air is looking for an experienced Drone Maintenance Technician with a strong technical background and a passion for maintaining aircraft and machinery. We seek innovators who love solving complex problems. Here, you’ll work hard, have fun, and, of course, make history!
As a Drone Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and routine service to ensure our drones meet design specifications and remain in safe operating condition. You will collaborate closely with engineering, flight operations, and other Prime Air teams to fulfill your responsibilities effectively. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical skills who thrives both independently and in a team environment.
Please note that this role may require up to six months of travel per year.
Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.
This position may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing if conducting safety-sensitive functions as defined by the FAA. This includes pre-employment drug testing, random drug and alcohol testing, and testing in the event of an accident or incident. Employees must also submit to reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing when necessary. The FAA has strict requirements for drug testing, including the types of drugs tested for, the procedures for collecting and testing samples, and the consequences of a positive test. Federal law also requires Amazon to determine an applicant's DOT drug and/or alcohol testing history prior to hiring them into a position that would require them to conduct safety-sensitive functions as defined by the FAA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with mechanical and electrical integration or assembly
- Proficiency in installing sub-assemblies and assemblies using drawings or CAD files
- Knowledge of FAA maintenance guidelines as defined in 14 CFR 43
- Familiarity with common business applications and tools (e.g., MS Office, SQL)
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Proven ability to prioritize safety in ambiguous situations
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Amazon’s driver eligibility criteria
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to travel up to 50% annually
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
- Proficiency in Linux
- Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages
- Experience creating CAD files from loose specifications
- Strong understanding of FAA rules and regulations
- Experience with UAS flight testing or the commercial drone industry
