We're seeking an experienced and visionary Managing Editor to lead our editorial team and shape the future of our content strategy. This position requires a blend of creative insight, strategic thinking, and operational excellence to ensure seamless content change management for the program as a whole. The Managing Editor will be responsible for the day-to-day functions of the content team, including collaborating with the Assistant Editor and Content Quality Specialist to deliver large scale content projects. A successful candidate brings editorial, people management, and project management experience and demonstrates the ability to lead and persuade colleagues to ensure a unified approach to content development. The Managing Editor will also negotiate requirements as the team shifts a wide range of content within various domains to a single CMS, advocating for simplicity in the content catalog and optimizing the portfolio as a whole. You will work with stakeholders to gather requirements for your content plans, use sound business judgment to make quick decisions in ambiguous situations, and effectively prioritize competing projects. To be successful, you will evaluate the effectiveness of your content by defining success metrics and actioning on verbatim feedback. You will possess excellent writing skills and experience in developing content that is easily digestible, upholding and improving efficient processes.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead weekly editorial meetings to guide content team and report out on business deliverables. Remove blockers for direct reports and escalate workflow disruptions
- Drive medium to large scale content projects for their entire lifecycle from scoping through post-launch measurement
- Act as the authority on content strategy to drive agreement between Product, Marketing, Legal, and business partners
- Improve content development workflow and team processes to increase efficiency and/or quality
- Act as localization project manager in partnership with the Assistant Editor
- Develop and execute strategies to improve content quality, maintainability, and usability
- Define, manage, and communicate content effectiveness metrics
- Build effective relationships with multiple internal and external, cross-functional stakeholders to deliver complex global projects

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Professional experience in content strategy, editing, editorial project management, or a similar role.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Professional Writing, Technical Writing, or related field (or equivalent experience). Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven track record of leading high-performing editorial teams
- Deep subject matter expertise in content management systems and strategy, technical knowledge of content tools and processes
- Work experience in a global content team environment
- Proven knowledge working within Content Management Systems with high attention to detail
- Editorial background and skill in proofreading and creating, implementing, and ensuring adherence to style guides
- Foster strong customer relationships and manage expectations throughout project lifecycles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in a multi-language publishing environment, including globalization for translation, terminology databases and management, and other world-ready approaches
- Written and spoken proficiency (C1 CEFR) in two or more of the following languages: Spanish, French, Italian, Canadian French, German, Polish, Czech, and/or Slovak.
- Experience with AI-assisted content creation and editing tools
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple stakeholder needs in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated success at learning and explaining business processes
- High attention to detail
- Ability to organize and tackle high volumes of work under tight deadlines
