Finance Manager, Sort Centers
DESCRIPTION
North America Sort Center (NASC) Finance is looking for a Finance Manager to optimize performance across the network. Sort Centers are the critical Middle-Mile solution in the Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) group, linking Fulfillment Centers to the Last Mile. The experience of our customers is dependent on our ability to efficiently execute volume flow through the middle-mile network.
The Variable Cost team is a newly formed team within NASC Finance owning end-to-end variable cost. The team partners and influence spans across multiple teams and organizations within Amazon. The role will partner with Labor Planning and Tech organizations to drive financial modeling and analysis and make prioritization recommendations to optimize labor for 100+ Sort Centers. The role will be responsible for financial modeling and analysis (NPV, payback, cash flow, etc.) on project entitlements to guide prioritization.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated an ability to influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making through financial analysis, and adapt to a rapidly evolving environment. Regular collaboration with leadership across various business units across Amazon will allow you the opportunity to exhibit your verbal and written communication skills. A typical day in this role, provides an opportunity to improve and create new cost out initiatives, innovate creative solutions utilizing large scale data mining tools, identifying high priority work/projects to maximize results for key stakeholders, and solve complex problems effecting strategic decision-making.
Key job responsibilities
- You use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models and analysis with little guidance and draw conclusions and make recommendations that deliver results, and drive improvements.
- You identify and solve complex data integrity issues and collaborate with stakeholders on resolution, insisting on the highest standards.
- You identify the need for improved controls to address risk driven by business, industry, and policy changes and proactively propose control solutions.
- You create effective business partnership, manage competing priorities, and provide guidance during unexpected events
- You identify and implement opportunities to resolve finance issues, improve, scale, or simplify finance tools, technology, and processes across teams and organizations.
- You understand how data flows through our financial platforms and know the right data to use for analysis, and establish a source of truth.
- You simplify and centralize process improvement and reporting to allow business partners and customers to take action quickly.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
- 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
