DESCRIPTION

Amazon’s Legal Department seeks a talented public sector lawyer based in New Delhi to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) in its dealings with Indian public sector customers. AWS, the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, offers a wide range of cloud computing and IT services, including compute, storage, databases, Internet of Things, machine learning, quantum technologies, and robotics, as well as training and digital transformation consulting.

The Corporate Counsel will play a crucial role in supporting AWS's public sector business teams. This position involves negotiating technology licensing agreements, supporting compliance activities, and advising on new programs and solutions for government customers and commercial entities operating in the public sector. The successful candidate will provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for business leaders, as well as analyze and resolve contract issues. We seek a fast learner who is detail-oriented and capable of working independently while making decisions in ambiguous situations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from a leading law school
- Licensed to practice law in India and/or the US, UK, or other recognized jurisdictions
- 7+ years of legal experience (more experienced candidates are encouraged to apply)
- Professional-level fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Transactional drafting and negotiation experience gained at a leading law firm and/or in-house at a major multinational corporation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience negotiating and drafting technology licensing agreements with government customers or other public sector entities
- Familiarity with IT/technology licensing, outsourcing, and services agreements
- Understanding of intellectual property, competition, and privacy issues
- Associate Membership (ACS) with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), with a current valid membership
