Senior Engine Programmer, Amazon Games

We are looking for a Senior Engine Programmer who is as excited about games as we are. In this role, you will contribute to a technical mandate on an AAA multiplayer online battle arena game title built on Unreal 5. You will assess the ability of new technologies to deliver and drive innovation, reliability, performance and productivity gains. It's an opportunity to work on the latest technologies and build a truly the next generation experience for our players.
Key job responsibilities
• Work on a competitive game experience, with strong focus on performance, reactivity and accuracy.
• Work on low-level CPU optimization on a wide range of PC hardware
• Design and implement new engine runtime features for our game
• Design and implement APIs and supporting tools as required by the project's demands
• Optimize both memory and performance in our systems
• Analyze and fix common problems in a game engine, such as load times, memory usage, and performance problems
• Contribute to the broader design and implementation of technologies in the game
About the team
At Amazon Games, our ambition is to create bold new experiences that foster community in and around our games. Our team of game industry veterans is developing and publishing live service AAA multiplayer games and developing original IPs, including New World: Aeternum and an upcoming title based on The Lord of the Rings, with our studios and teams in Seattle, Orange County, San Diego, Montreal, and Bucharest. Amazon Games also publishes best-in-class games in close collaboration with developers, leading with Lost Ark from Smilegate RPG, THRONE AND LIBERTY from NCSOFT, and King of Meat from Glowmade, as well as the next major entry in the Tomb Raider series from Crystal Dynamics.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops)
- Experience with Unity, Unreal, CryEngine, Lumberyard or proprietary 3D game engine, or industry-equivalent technology (3D animation, simulation, etc)
- Significant experience in C++
- Excellent C++ skills and software engineering principles
- Experience profiling and optimizing in one or more areas of game development
- Experience implementing and debugging large, robust systems on game or game engine technology
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate fluently in English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experience with Unreal engine
