Software Development Manager, Pricing Systems
DESCRIPTION
As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible Retail Pricing's regional pricing initiatives. You’ll work closely with some of the brightest software engineers, research scientists, and product managers to best price products for our customers across the globe. You and your team of engineers are responsible the complete lifecycle of software, from design to production.
You should be comfortable diving deep into technical architectures and requirements, working across stakeholders from multiple disciplines, be able to quickly identify solutions to challenges discovered during development.
Key job responsibilities
- Build a high performance team while maintaining a high bar for quality.
- Hire, coach, and mentor colleagues; build a strong cross-functional organization and care about developing people.
- Create and execute roadmaps and project plan
- Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to senior leadership.
- Work closely with senior engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
- Foster culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
- Own all operational metrics and support
- Have the obsession to drive a better customer experience through everything that we do here at Amazon
- Set clear, measurable quality goals for your organization in a data-led way
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of engineering team management experience
- 4+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
