We're looking for a talented Senior Software Development Engineer to join our team and work with product managers, designers, and engineers to design and build innovative automotive-shopping experiences for our customers and our dealer sellers. This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer to define and implement the technology direction for a young organization while remaining hands-on as a prolific software designer and coder. We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to provide thought leadership lead and/or influence the design, implementation and delivery of end-to-end solutions, and to establish engineering best practices for 1+ two-pizza teams. You will guide and mentor the development team, using your considerable experience to build an engineering culture of innovation, quality and customer obsession.

Key job responsibilities
As Sr Dev Engineer/Tech Lead, you will...
- Partner with SDMs to establish and drive the technical vision your teams. You will collaborate with business and tech teams to ensure that team’s tech roadmap supports the business direction.
- Use your problem-solving skills, collaborating with creative and technical teams, thinking-big and inventing and simplifying to solve customer needs in our new product category
- Design and build full-stack solutions for Amazon Autos customers
- Deliver novel customer experiences by developing solutions which include innovative UX strategies, GenAI tooling, AWS services and high-scale back-end services.
- Leverage your technical ability, excellent organizational and communication skills to build and solve challenging and ambiguous problems. You'll use your ingenuity and motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
- Provide guidance to multiple development teams and mentor SDEs in these team.
- Set a high quality bar, ensuring quality design reviews and robust engineering practices for automated testing, code coverage and operational excellence.

A day in the life
As a Sr Dev Engineer/Tech Lead on this team, you will lead software engineering design and implementation for projects that impact or integrate-with all areas of the Amazon Autos. You will you will design and develop solutions that power innovative, customer and dealer-centric features. You will work directly with creative, product management and program management to define requirements, advise the sequence of tech roadmaps and apply your technical expertise to solve difficult problems in a fast-paced environment. You'll design and build software and systems for novel customer experiences, AWS services, and large-scale back-end web services, all with the goal of delivering a seamless experience to the customer.

About the team
This is a critical role for ensuring a bar-raising customer experience for Amazon Autos, an innovative automotive discovery and shopping experience on Amazon, providing customers better convenience and more selection. We’re collaborating with other experienced teams at Amazon to define the future of how customers research and shop for cars online.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
