As a Finance Manager in AWS Services Financial Planning & Analysis (SFP&A) you will play a crucial role in driving reporting and analyses of business performance in support of weekly business reviews (WBR) and other mechanisms across the portfolio of AWS products, including a focus on Gen AI offerings. You will be responsible for driving valuable and actionable conclusions in partnership with other finance teams.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with deep knowledge of financial analysis, modeling and reporting. They will demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships and have strategic influencing skills, be experienced in communicating effectively to executives and teams of peers alike. This individual must have a proven record of delivering results and solving problems with independence.
Key job responsibilities
- Run and improve existing financial processes (e.g., weekly and monthly business reviews, annual planning, quarterly guidance) to ensure high degree of data integrity and insightful analysis.
- Understand key business drivers to constantly look for insights from the data and push for improvement in economics.
- Communicate key inputs and findings in a crisp manner to drive decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve, automate, standardize, or simplify our processes.
- Drive cross-functional planning and forecasting processes.
- Create light-weight processes of rapid implementation to satisfy emerging demands as the AWS business evolves.
- Develop a solid understanding of AWS Finance planning processes and an in-depth knowledge of the suite of tools and systems we rely on.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
- 5+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
- 5+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
- 5+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA, or CPA
- 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
