Sr Software Development Manager, Amazon Autos

We're looking for a talented Sr Software Development Manager to lead a new engineering team and collaborate with product managers, designers, external Vendors and engineers to design, and develop innovative automotive-shopping experiences for our customers.
Key job responsibilities
Develop and execute project plans and delivery commitments; Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment.
Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team.
Operations of the service as a mission-critical system.
Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach. Be a hands-on technical leader and contributor.
Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management.
A day in the life
As Sr Software Development Manager, you and your engineering team will work alongside Designers, Program Managers and Product Managers to create and execute on product and tech roadmaps for multiple engineering teams. You will manage the lifecycle (architecture, design, implementation, documentation and measurement) of your team's software. You will collaborate with teams across Amazon on the planning and execution of complex and highly-technical projects with high impact and visibility.
About the team
This role is one in a newly formed Amazon Autos team with a vision to create innovative automotive discovery and shopping experiences on Amazon, providing customers better convenience and more selection. We’re collaborating with other experienced teams at Amazon and external vendors to define the future of how customers research and shop for cars online.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams
- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $198,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $342,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
