Integration Value Stream Leader, Kuiper Satellite Manufacturing, Kuiper Manufacturing Ops
DESCRIPTION
Project Kuiper is seeking several experienced Value Stream Leaders to lead high-volume production operations at Kuiper’s satellite production facility in Kirkland, WA. Kuiper’s constellation will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
The Value Stream Leader will be the single-threaded owner responsible for one of 3 organizations that manufacture the top level assemblies of the Kuiper Satellite. The Manager’s responsibilities will include defining and implementing the strategic vision for each value stream, and will be responsible for the daily operations of the value stream. Safety and product quality are paramount. The Manager and his/her team will work tightly with development engineering for manufacturing process definitions, and will leverage our teams in procurement, manufacturing, supply chain, and to enable high volume production throughput. The role is based in Kirkland, WA.
Reporting to the Production Plant Manager, the Value Stream Leader will be a key participant on the production leadership team, will own their respective production lines and manufacturing assets, and will have significant visibility at the senior leadership level. This role will focus on plans to implement and scale production processes to meet the demands of the Kuiper constellation.

A day in the life
The Value Stream Leader will lead a specific manufacturing organization at Kuiper’s new full rate production facility. They will own the layout and execution of the production lines, line balancing, staffing, and operational decision making for their production lines, and work closely with engineering teams to ensure processes are capable of meeting design intent. The successful candidate has extensive operations experience, preferably in manufacturing of space hardware, and a thorough understanding of aerospace/space standards and quality systems. The Value Stream Leader will be a visible leader with strong communication skills. The role is highly impactful, and will drive our success as the premier satellite broadband constellation.

Project Kuiper's mission is to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Production of Kuiper's develpoment satellites takes place in Redmond, WA, and we have announced a new full-rate production facility in Kirkland, WA that will meet the demands of the full constellation.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years manufacturing and testing of space/aerospace hardware
- 3+ years of technical leadership roles in operations and manufacturing
- 3+ years people management experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Specific experience in manufacturing space hardware at constellation scale
- Experience leading hourly and salaried workforces in a production environment
- Experienced with various automated manufacturing processes, including assembly and test methods at component level, subsystem, and system level.
- Experienced with handling and tracking systems for continuous material flow to manufacturing lines.
- Formal training/certification in Operational Excellence Systems (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.) a plus
- Strong organizational, analytical, root cause analysis and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
