This is a unique opportunity to join a small, high-impact team working on AI agents for health initiatives. As a senior engineer, you will lead the software architecture design and implementation for integrating AI models into scalable, high-performance systems. Your work will directly influence how our AI solutions are delivered to users, potentially transforming how individuals manage their daily health and long-term wellness goals.

If you're passionate about building robust, scalable systems that bring AI capabilities to life in healthcare applications, this role is for you. You'll work on designing and implementing high-performance APIs, integrating AI models into production environments, and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our AI-driven health solutions. You'll have the chance to innovate alongside AI researchers, data scientists, and healthcare experts.

In this early-stage initiative, you'll have significant influence on our technical direction and engineering practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a high-judgment senior engineer to demonstrate impact and make key architectural decisions.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead software architecture design for AI agent integration.
- Develop high-performance APIs for AI model interaction.
- Implement AI agent integration into prototype applications.
- Ensure efficient integration of selected Large Language Models.
- Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.


A day in the life
You'll work with a cross-disciplinary team to design and implement AI-driven health and wellness experiences. You'll tackle complex integration challenges, optimize system performance, and guide junior engineers in best practices

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
