IT Support Engineer
DESCRIPTION
IT systems that work effectively keep Amazon’s operations running at full speed. Our IT Support Engineers work behind the scenes to troubleshoot any issues and improve our systems, so that we can operate at our best. Your focus will be to make sure our IT infrastructure is up to the demands of our global business. At the same time, you’ll get to work with the latest technology and learn from leaders who are creating the warehouse environments of the future.
Key job responsibilities
- Support end-user equipment and your building’s IT infrastructure
- Help with key network projects, like the IT setup of new Amazon buildings
- Suggest new processes that improve the way Amazon uses IT in its operational sites
- Train and mentor IT technicians
A day in the life
You’ll be based on site and will travel to other operational sites in your country, and potentially internationally, several times a month. As an IT Support Engineer, you’ll work with remote and on-site colleagues to support them with any issues. You’ll use your expertise to make sure our platforms are working at their best, often implementing projects to maintain or improve our IT infrastructure. In some cases, you may also help design the infrastructure for new buildings and make sure everything is working for the site launch.
No two days are the same at Amazon, which makes this an exciting place to work. You can expect to troubleshoot disruptive IT incidents one day and come up with new processes that make our IT systems better the next. You’ll also spend time training and mentoring your colleagues, giving you the opportunity to see your team develop and your career grow.
About the team
Within the Ops Tech IT (OTS) team, we offer constant tech support to Amazon’s global operations. Maintaining, upgrading and protecting the IT infrastructure and end-user devices of one of the world’s largest businesses requires diverse skills. Some of the team are engineers who help implement solutions and create new ones, whilst other people take management roles, providing leadership to our tech support colleagues so they can better help our end-users.
Amazon’s OTS team work hard to balance performance and sustainability in all new solutions. Lots of our people are based on site. Our team operates around the clock, making sure we can offer support or carry out important maintenance with minimal business interruption.
Base pay for this position starts from EUR 1900 gross per month. The salary depends on the skills and requirements. There will be further pay components such as a sign on bonus and the eligibility to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in the US. Company benefits apply subject to further terms, including annual membership in medical clinic, life insurance, retirement pension, meal voucher card, career development.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree in computer science or another technical subject
- Relevant experience as an administrator of heterogeneous networks, with Microsoft Windows and Linux-based clients and servers
- Relevant experience with networking infrastructure, system integration and working with third-party vendors
- A valid driving licence
- Upper intermediate proficiency in verbal and written English and local language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Any additional industry certifications such as ITIL, Cisco (CCNA, CCNP), Microsoft (MCP, MCSE) or Linux (LPIC-1, LPIC-2)
- Experience in diagnostic and problem-solving responsibilities
- Experience in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
- Experience of working with common network and internet protocols such as, network management protocols, network communication protocols and network security protocols
- Experience in IT asset management and purchasing or WLAN
