Sr. Raw Materials Manager, Amazon Private Brands
DESCRIPTION
Amazon Private Brands is looking for a customer-obsessed Sr. Global Raw Material Manager to oversee nominated mill relationships and production quality of all Softlines Private Brands textiles, worldwide. You will be responsible for identifying, onboarding and managing a pipeline of best-in-class textile mills with production capabilities that meet our fabric development needs. You will also be in charge of translating our fabric quality and compliance requirements into clear, executable direction for vendors, suppliers and other outside research institutes. You will work closely with our Fabric R&D Managers, Product Developers and Garment quality engineers to ensure every bulk production lot meets Amazon bar for quality and is fit for product use.
To succeed in this role, you should have a proven track record in the textiles industry as a fabric engineer or quality manager and experience managing strategic supplier relationships. You should have deep expertise in fabric production, testing and compliance protocols. You should have experience developing scalable SOPs, processes and auditing mechanisms from the ground up. You should also be comfortable pulling and analyzing data to measure fabric quality and mill performance and developing actions plans to drive improvement. You should be a self-starter and collaborator who constantly looks around corners to identify opportunities to add value for our customers, business and team.
Key job responsibilities
• Own fabric quality KPI metrics, continuously monitoring and deep diving data to proactively identify opportunities for improvement at the raw material and supplier level; Implement preventative actions and process improvements.
• Lead reactive root cause analysis to quickly identify, diagnose and remediate bulk fabric quality defects identified through ongoing physical surveillance, minimizing risk to inventory outages.
• Manage nominated mill relationships, establishing mutual goals in line with Softlines Private Brands overall raw material sourcing strategy
• Identify and assess new nominated mill onboarding opportunities based on country-of-origin diversification, fabric development and risks mitigation needs.
• Prepare and manage factory assessment/audit, qualification and onboarding execution.
• Regularly monitor nominated mill fabric production, ensuring on time deliver to garment vendors.
• Travel internationally to visit fabric suppliers and garment vendors, auditing production processes and providing feedback for improvement and increased efficiency.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience partnering with technical partners for design implementation
- 7+ years of textiles engineering or quality management experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in influencing senior leadership through data driven insights
