Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer, Project Kuiper
DESCRIPTION
Are you ready to get in on the ground floor of Project Kuiper? It’s Amazon’s next billion-dollar business. Project Kuiper’s long-term initiative is to design, launch and maintain a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to communities around the world.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial minded Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to work in a start-up environment who is passionate about technology and information systems, who thinks globally, and acts locally to create and implement solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess both the technical background that enables them to work with technology and ability to think broadly and strategically about global initiatives. They will experience a wide range of problem- solving situations requiring an understanding of technical infrastructure and stakeholder expectations.
Key job responsibilities
• Work closely with multiple production and finance teams to understand challenges, find solution, and gather requirements.
• Communicate complex analysis and insights to stakeholders and business leaders, both verbally and in writing.
• Enable effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into a digestible and actionable format.
• Develop key metrics and performance indicators to measure overall performance and provide foundation for continuous improvement.
• Work on data pipelines, data models and leverage the AWS tech stack to build visualizations
• Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports and dashboards.
• Deliver business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks.
• Manage the local data infrastructure, and develop scalable solutions for data storage.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide solutions.
• Document technical specifications and maintain data dictionaries.
• Implement data quality measures and monitoring.
• Conduct root cause analysis for data discrepancies.
Export Control Requirement:

This role will be highly collaborative, requiring partnerships with cross-functional leaders to drive positive results. You will tackle challenging business problems and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Kuiper. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before. Along the way, you will learn a lot, have fun and make a positive impact on stakeholders.
About the team
Kuiper Finance Technology (KFT) is a part of Devices and Services (DaS) FinTech team supporting Kuiper Finance. KFT provides program management, SAP product, and BI reporting solutions to support Kuiper business initiatives. Our BI group is tasked with building reporting solutions and key insights while ensuring data integrity in the reporting infrastructure.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of professional or military experience
- 5+ years of SQL experience
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience with AWS technologies
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience with SAP S/4 HANA FICO (Finance and Controlling), MM (Material Management), and PP (Production Planning) modules.
- Experience with version control systems (Git).
- Understanding of business metrics and KPIs.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
