North America Stores Marketing is on a mission to make Amazon the most-loved shopping destination for customers. The ideal candidate has a strong visual design background, is self-directed, detail-oriented, comfortable with ambiguity, and has a deep interest in Generative AI technology. As a Design Director, you have strong organizational skills, web and retail expertise, intrinsic design ability, and typographic skills. You will own the design process from start to finish and play a significant role in creating a best-in-class customer experience via digital marketing initiatives. This role provides a great opportunity to make an outsized impact by collaborating closely with talented marketing, business, and tech leaders to unlock value, selection, and convenience for our customers.

Key job responsibilities
• Work from creative briefs alongside key stakeholders to develop executions for digital marketing activities

• Partner with Art Directors and Creative Directors to develop event branding and create comprehensive style guides for marketing events and campaigns

• Own the design process, and synthesize feedback and input from stakeholders

• Lead visual and production designers in the completion of projects, providing clear direction and constructive feedback

• Present concepts and final work to stakeholders and internal customers, including senior management, in person and via video/phone

• Work cross-functionally to ensure alignment and consistency across different creative work streams

• A conduit between creative and Generative AI and 3D rendering technologies teams–collaborating closely with internal tech teams to help develop and refine Generative AI and 3D rendering tools tailored to NASC’s creative needs

• Identify opportunities to incorporate emerging design trends and digital innovations into creative and marketing strategies

• Work closely with operations teams to scope projects and forecast resourcing needs to build production capacity, communicating needs and trade-offs when appropriate

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Have an online portfolio demonstrating strong visual design skills, advertising and, retail experience across a range of media and platforms, along with work that reflects your design process
- 8+ years of design experience
- Experience designing for a retail brand
- Experience working with tech teams
- Strong time management skills and ability to be self-directed as needed
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Highly proficient in Figma, Adobe Suite and related design and production software
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as visual communications or graphic design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge of typographic and brand design principles
- Experience working with AI tech teams
- Experience with Generative AI tools and workflows
- Self-motivated team player, with refined and effective leadership skills
- Ability to influence others to set and achieve goals and deadlines
- Excellent concept and creative development skills
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Effective cross-team collaborator with the ability to work across multiple creative projects

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
