To support our mission, we are expanding our Engineering, Operations, Research, Finance, Product Management, Marketing and Data teams. We are working together to extend the global reach of Payments and Lending and launch the next generation of products and customer experiences.


Key job responsibilities
• Responsible for the overall platform development life cycle
• Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
• Management of team resources, hiring, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a world class engineering team
• Work closely with the engineers in a design-first methodology to architect and develop the best technical design and approach that embodies Operational Excellence
• Partnering with software development and design teams to deliver on product and services roadmap.
• Lead automation efforts for a team advancing a service ownership culture.
• Accountable for identifying commonalities across reported customer incidents and drive root cause efforts to understand and resolve these problems.
• Driving projects that improve support-related processes and managing Operational cost in running the systems.

As a Software Development Manager, you will be part of the larger technical leadership community at Amazon. This community forms the backbone of the company, plays a critical role in the broad business planning, working closely with senior executives to develop business targets and resource requirements, influences our long-term technical and business strategy, helps us hire talented team of engineers and ultimately enables us to deliver innovative new solutions rapidly.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
