Senior Technical Program Manager, Proactive Security Detective Tooling, API Security Testing and Automation

The API Security Testing and Automation (ASAT) team is looking for a passionate, deeply technical, and results-oriented Sr. Technical Program Manager (TPM). The Sr. TPM will be at the forefront of API security automation technology by supporting the delivery and management of customer-facing AWS services. They will lead key development initiatives to deliver new, innovative security functionality enabling our developer teams to deliver on our security commitments.
ASAT’s mission is to ensure all customer-facing service APIs meet the security bar, and we do it through developing services that automate integrating security detections at each stage of the API development lifecycle. Our tools help secure every API used by every team and service within Amazon and AWS.
This Sr. TPM will lead and coordinate design and implementation efforts collaborating with engineers and highly-engaged customers and partners. The problems you solve are highly visible and impact all of Amazon and you will work closely with developers and security engineers to develop optimal solutions. You’ll make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and partner project teams like AWS Identity and CloudTrail.
As Sr. TPM, you will also partner with AWS and Amazon developer teams to migrate and optimize their use the ASAT technology to raise Amazon’s security bar, while reducing barriers to delivery of customer functionality.
Key job responsibilities
* Drive engagement with AWS and Amazon service teams, security teams, and partners.
* Write strategy documents for a VP audience, gaining visibility for accelerated career growth.
* Drive the internal software development of our services.
* Drive service team adoption of ASAT tools and services.
* Help shape the vision for how dynamic analysis will improve security at AWS and Amazon.
* Resolve ambiguities and align team plans to minimize technical risk and maximize odds of project success.
* Track and report the team's progress to leadership in business reviews.
* Define and report metrics that capture impact and value.
* Advance the current and future success of ASAT’s services through use of metrics, technologies and strong internal customer and team partnership.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design
- Experience working directly with engineering teams
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field; or equivalent work experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with any combination of the following: API security or implementation, mobile security, threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security
- Experience with multiple programming languages is a definite plus (such as, Java, Python, Kotlin, etc.)
- Experience implementing and/or driving security solutions at the business level
- Experience managing stakeholders at the VP level and excellent written and verbal communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
