The staggering amount of data we process from multiple sources to work towards achieving our mission of requires the skills of an experienced and motivated Data Engineer. The successful candidate will work in our Data Science & Analytics team to help set new standards in data processing capability and data availability for our Device Sales & Customer Engagement business units. You’ll be working with Amazon-scale Big Data stored in a variety of locations including data lakes, Redshift clusters and cloud storage, helping us to bring in new datasets that will further inform our business decisions. You’ll do this while maintaining the highest levels of data accuracy, integrity and privacy, allowing us to explore new ways to engage and delight our customers and continue our success.
Your opportunities with our team will include:
- Working with multiple stakeholders and a variety of tools across Amazon to apply best-practice processing for very large volumes of data
- Administering our AWS-based infrastructure
- Analyzing, improving and maintaining the performance of our data infrastructure
- Designing and implementing solutions to ensure compliance with the latest privacy laws & regulations
- Developing custom tools to enhance regular workflows for analysts, BIEs, Data Scientists and managers
- Defining and enforcing stringent data quality standards
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience mentoring team members on best practices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience operating large data warehouses

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
