In 2015, Amazon announced the launch of Amazon Business, a new marketplace on Amazon.com combining the selection, convenience, and value that customers have come to know and love from Amazon with new features and unique benefits for business customers.
The Business Industrial and Scientific Supplies (BISS) team is looking for a Senior Vendor Manager (SVM) for Professional Medical category. The SVM will be responsible for managing a selection portfolio and end to end relationship with related vendors driving the topline performance and profitability for their business. The SVM is also responsible for managing the full scope of their category and vendor portfolio, including setting strategic direction, managing P&L performance and overseeing operational performance. Within strategic direction, SVM to identify offering gaps, key brands to onboard and customer experience to offer.
He/She owns vendor relationships end-to-end, from signing new vendors, leading negotiations, managing promotional activities, and achieving operational or logistical objectives.
The ideal candidate works effectively across various functional teams, including Amazon Business, marketing, sales, supply chain, compliance and legal. Strong candidates are results-oriented, entrepreneurial, can identify and successfully pursue category-relevant opportunities, and build internal processes to improve the supplier and customer experience. Strong candidates will be able to define initiatives objectives and roadmaps and drive ideas from conception to delivery.
Key job responsibilities
CUSTOMER FOCUS
- Evaluates products and services to continually drive quality of customer experience
- Aggregates and escalates industry trends; ensures team prioritizes customer obsession
- Identifies opportunities to differentiate our customer experience from the competition
STRATEGY
- Develops long-term category and supplier growth strategies
- Unlocks key product portfolio gaps through business development and/or negotiation
- Provides recommendation on business opportunities and long-term strategy for multiple sub-categories
VENDOR MANAGEMENT
- Expands current vendor selection and secures new brand selection for multiple subcategories
- Drives strategic negotiations to deliver top- and bottom-line category growth
- Builds long-term relationships by creating value, identifying opportunities for growth, acquiring customers, and enhancing customer brand awareness
- Increases vendor participation in strategic supplier go-to-market programs
BUSINESS OPERATIONS
- Dives deep into inputs and understands the downstream impact of changes to pricing, selection, and convenience for multiple subcategories.
- Owns the Retail P & L for multiple subcategories; develops plans that drive revenue and margin improvement for the business
- Creates strategic and prioritized vendor marketing plan that maximizes margin dollars and customer experience
- Audits all elements of multiple subcategory businesses
- Identifies areas that need vendor attention and directs team to address issues; acts as escalation point, helping team and vendor(s) resolve conflicts
- Identifies scalable changes to the category that automate the product lifecycle management process
- Works with internal technical, cross-category, and tech teams to drive multi-system process changes
TEAM DEVELOPMENT
- Holds team accountable for maintaining robust process documentation
- Provides regular peer feedback and coaching
- Implements Amazon’s best recruiting practices and continuously raises the bar for hiring

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL
- Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration
- Experience using data to influence business decisions
- Experience with business analysis and P&L management
- 3+ years of with Excel experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
- Experience negotiating with internal and external stakeholders
- Master's degree
- Experience in Healthcare Industry

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
