Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Kuiper Productivity Engineering (KPE) is seeking a motivated and autonomous builder to deliver results to our customers. This is a hands-on position where your daily activities will range from strategic planning to new system development to supporting the customers that depend on our services. Deliver consistent, well-defined results in an agile systems development workflow. To succeed in this role, you will deliver reliable, scalable, controlled working environments built on AWS.

Key job responsibilities
* Manage and maintain the team's fleet of license servers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
* Collaborate directly with customers to understand their unique use cases and implement tailored solutions
* Oversee the regular updating of license daemons and upgrading of server operating systems
* Implement and improve observability measures across the team's infrastructure
* Lead, refine, and automate the upgrade process for services like Atlassian and Nextcloud
* Manage File Storage solutions
* Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for all managed systems
* Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment and updates
* Apply DevOps best practices to improve system reliability, scalability, and security
* Troubleshoot complex issues across various platforms and services
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure improvements with business needs
* Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in system administration and DevOps
* Document processes, configurations, and system architectures
* Mentor junior team members in system administration and DevOps practices
* Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 system availability and support

A day in the life
In this role, you will function as a DevOps Engineer. You will operate and support the team's services, as well as developing automation for upgrades/patching/testing, and enhance observability of the systems. You will work with stakeholders and senior engineers to design and develop custom solutions and integrations between tools and other services in a secure manner.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering
- Experience with networking fundamentals including hands-on experience with load balancers, switches, routers, etc.
- Experience utilizing AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
